Coutinho is our third best player now, isn't he ?

Yep he is - and before the game today with all these sudden Barca rumours every time we come a month closer to transfer window opening - I am of the opinion that we may be better off not playing Coutinho unless we are desperate. So glad that Can did not start today - why give these uncommitted players a chance to stay fit and healthy and game time if they are gonna fuck off. It was obvious that Coutinho is not our best - this team of ours only fires fully if Mane is playing - he is our number one despite Salah's goals. Reason I say that is because the stats speak for themselves and they certainly did when he went off last season. Salah would get us a goal but with Mane we can win games outright.

As for Coutinho - don't think he is consistent enough and his average performance over the course of a season is like the one he had with his national team.

Coutinho hasn't been our best player since we signed mane

Mane is getting a run for his money this season though from Salah

I'm not going to be all revisionist on this shit, Coutinho has just about become an absolutely great player, but I wouldn't pick him ahead of either Mane or Salah at the minute and I won't give a fuck when he leaves, as long as we get that other kid I'd never heard of til last week and Lallana comes back in good form.

If he wants to go he can go....it's a bit different from the Suarez situation that Suarez gave his all to win that title even if he knew he was going at the end of the season anyway... I'm not sure that level of commitment can be expected from others...

I wouldn't level that Phil. He's scored 5 in 10 hasn't he? He's certainly playing to win. But he's a Barca player already and we gotta get our heads round that.

Last season he looked miserable, even when he was scoring. I have the feeling he was preparing his exit strategy all season last year. The smiles and enthusiasm for his goals since coming back is nice to see. I think he's as relieved as the rest of us the saga is over.

Did anyone else see klopps hugs and jokes when Phil came off.
Mane was like meh whatever Phil was all giggles n jokes

This can create an interesting dynamic within the team - now Phil, Sadio and Mo are all vying for the status of the main star player, with Lallana and Firmino not too far behind. If Klopp can harness that sense of competition towards something positive, this can motivate all 3 to become even better than they are now.

It would be great to have someone who can pick a pass unlocking defense and allowing the players to use their pace to run behind the player, this is the kind of player we need to replace Phil

Coutinho is awesome, why must we pick between all 3 anyway? Also, Eriksen better? come on, he's been good but Coutinho's pass and goals stats insanely good.
You know he will be that bring back one player from the past thread next season.
Why Philippe Coutinho surpasses Liverpool legends - and John Stones' injury is a blow for Man City

Manchester City need a short-term replacement for John Stones, while Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho continues to look hard to replace
Liverpool may need to replace Philippe Coutinho one day - and with each passing week, the task looks more difficult.
His creative spark has taken him past some Anfield greats - according to the statistics, at least - and has also caught the eye of countless European admirers.
Should he leave, where would Liverpool get a replacement? Could West Brom or Southampton have the answer?
Plus, is Manchester City's most recent injury setback a far bigger blow than it may appear? Could it halt their seemingly unstoppable momentum? And why are Burnley dancing to Status Quo?
BBC Sport takes a look at some of the statistics from the latest action in the Premier League.
Is Coutinho replaceable?

Coutinho's devilish outside-of-the-foot pass to create Liverpool's second goal against Southampton, in Saturday's 3-0 win, took his tally to 31 Premier League assists for the club - one more than Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen.
He has ground to make up on the 58 goals Steve McManaman created in the Premier League era, while Steven Gerrard is in the distance on 92.
The chances of the Brazil international eclipsing Gerrard look slim - and not just because the words 'Coutinho' and 'Barcelona' will appear alongside one another in countless articles come the January transfer window.
Though Coutinho is creating a goal every 348 minutes, bettering Gerrard's mark of 447 minutes, the Brazilian is still only churning out assists at a rate of 0.22 per game.
At that rate, he would need to play another 284 league games in England to pass Gerrard - or more than seven seasons.
Could Liverpool keep the 25-year-old for that long? Also: Do they need to keep him?
The fact he has been involved in 14 goals in his last 15 games would suggest the answer is a resounding 'yes'. On that evidence, you certainly want him in your fantasy football team, though only 5% of players in the Premier League's official game have him picked.
But if Liverpool do offload Coutinho and need an assist king the stats suggest they could benefit by signing Southampton's Dusan Tadic or West Brom's Matt Phillips. Sounds crazy? Look at the table below - both have more assists per minute than Coutinho.
