... if the game goes ahead on sunday.....

A... with the continuing freezing temperatures and..
B... the state of Liverpools Roads... (Health & Safety)
C... Snow is forecasted again for sunday...

Re: I'd be very suprised..

Ah man up... Americans play football in all conditions except lightning... We should be the same. I'd love to see us play on a frosty/snowy pitch... sure the passing won't be as sublime, but it'd give a new dimension.

me too... however given the way things are these days, health & safety and that, it will probably be called off..

In fact you will probably see quite a few fixtures over the weekend called off..

Re: I'd be very suprised..

I don't live too far from Anfield and the conditions are appalling.

I haven't seen a pavement this week - everything is a blanket of ice and snow.

That sounds bad. Dont think the forecast is too good either

It's going to be minus 7 tonight according to the radio.

The council have done a minute amount of 'work' in the city centre and business district. But there's no grit, sand, anything even on at the top end of city centre and the hills leading down to it, like Mount Pleasant. It's just one hilly ice-rink, with everyone young and old slipping and falling over.

Putting any faith in the council making Anfield safe enough to satisfy the Police would be extremely foolish, IMO.

Re: I'd be very suprised..

Yeah, club officials have contacted the premier league to suggest the game is postponed ssn just said

Re: I'd be very suprised..

Fuck, I wanted us to play this weekend as we at least have some momentum going.

That, and the fact that Aaron Lennon is out with injury. He's been their best player next to Defoe this season.

Re: I'd be very suprised..

Liverpool Football Club have submitted an official request to the Premier League that Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash against Tottenham be called off for safety reasons.

Discussions with the Premier League are currently taking place and more news will be announced as soon as a final decision is made.

Off the offal.

Re: I'd be very suprised..

there ya go...

it sucks, but right decision..

I'd wouldn't even go as far as blaming the council...

given the extreme freezing temperatures.. even gritting would do very little at present...

although it could be argued better planning should be implemented.. we are shite when it comes to extreme weather conditions in this country...

Re: I'd be very suprised..

Hope we can afford to pay the players this month, not sure now with the game off.
Actually we did manage to earn a reply with Reading, so as long as that's on it should be ok.

Fuckers!

I need some football!

I agree with you.
But if this increases our chances of beating Spurs, I'm all for it.

Re: I'd be very suprised..

I was listening to TalkSport on Wednesday and Durham was on about Arsenal cancelling their game. He was giving it loads about football being a man's game watched by real men. I guess real men are who TalkSport aim to please anyway, within a breath of finishing his bullshit about real men he informed us all that they were having extended weather and travel updates on the station and to take care out on the roads as it's dangerous.

Idiot.

Re: I'd be very suprised..

Games NEVER used to get called off for "Safety reasons around the ground".

Just goes to show how far the games changed from its working class background.

Fucking shite.

Re: I'd be very suprised..

The clubs don't want someone slipping on the ground inside the stadium and sticking in a massive compo claim.

Re: I'd be very suprised..

Could it be something to do with an insurance claim culture? In the days when games "Never got called off" people didnt lodge claims for slipping and falling on their arses

What?

Re: I'd be very suprised..

Wouldn't a postponed game improve the odds that Mascher could play against Spurs?

It would also improve the odds that Lennon could play against us.....

hmmm.. Which is more key to our success? Having Mascher or Spurs not having Lennon?

I wonder if he'll base today's show on "Liverpool running scared" or some similar shat ?
