Is that the best he/we could do?

Disappointing if true.

If he starts 30-40 games, it will do him the world of good AND it will give him the necessary experience to either push for 1st team minutes with us next year OR go on loan to a premier league team. It's a solid move imo.

Bolton could be a decent place for him. Better to play 40 games this season then be on the bench in the Premier league. He needs games.

Do you go from a loan in the next league down to pushing for first team minute's?

Disappointing. He's good enough to play a good role for us right now.

Modo thinks Suso did more in pre-season and should be closer to the first team. A couple of years ago Modo thought Suso was more promising than Sterling and was more likely to come through.

Something to bear in mind for the casual reader.

Could make sense if we are likely to have 1 of Markovic/ Coutinho/ Lallana on the bench going forwards but I had a feeling he'd get chances this season.

A couple of years ago Suso was better than Sterling. Even Sterling said it himself.
And yes, Suso had a better pre season than Ibe.

Remember when Pacheco was going to be our savior?

Yeah, I also remember when Coady was the next Gerrard. Some things just don't pan out do they?

Your selective reasoning and revisionism knows no bounds. This from the same poster trying to make cunts out of people in another thread for once supporting Spearing.

Supporting Spearing...that's a nice way to put it.
Another way would be, stepping on Lucas and promoting Spearing, but hey...whatever floats your boat.

Is it just me, then? Am I being unfair on Modo?

The first time he said it I really thought he was talking bollocks, to say that Suso had a better pre-season than Ibe. I mean just complete rubbish. From memory Suso didn't even make many appearances, let alone starts. Whereas Ibe was fairly prominent throughout, making lots of promising contributions. Obviously Suso scored the two goals, but seemingly did little else.

What do other people think?

Modo you're just as guilty as anyone on stepping on a player to support another one.

Lallana is your more recent one, other one was Sakho when defending agger.

No one is innocent in this, so, move on or the threads getting locked as we're talking about ibe

he scored 2 goals in no appearances, that's pretty decent imo.

Have I claimed that I'm innocent? I'm just saying that it's fair game.
I'm a self professed habitual player stepper. You could add Downing and Adam to that list as well.
Also, the Lallana thing was just about his fee. If we signed him for £12 million, I wouldn't have said a bad word about him...I think.

Ibe getting 40 odd games in the championship is great. It's a very physical league with not much time on the ball. Will really improve him. Should have a recall option incase of injuries and we need him back.

I feel 25-30 games for Liverpool, including CL, FA and League Cup games would be much better for his development ... Making him love life at Liverpool instead of being farmed out to Bolton.

I prefer to see him kept in the squad for half a season to see what sort of minutes he could earn, and how he did with them. Then, depending on that and the situation with injuries, decide on whether to send him out on loan in the second half of the season. Same for Suso.

Sterling
Coutinho
Lallana
Allen
Lambert
Markovic
Can

Are all in some shape or form or system, rightly or wrongly, ahead of him when it comes to starting spots and/or subs spots.

With that in mind, he'd be far FAR better off going and playing 35 games for a decent side than scrapping it out for a 10 minute cameo a dozen times per season, max.

It astounds me why so many people on here cannot understand the value of using loans to your advantage. It does not mean the player is devalued, or unimportant.

I reckon he would've had to scrap for minutes on a BPL loan as well, so I like this move.

If he had to go on a loan I would have liked him to have gone somewhere where he'd be best placed to add to what he knows, receive encouragement to express himself and progress. Last season he was at Birmingham, usually required to fill in as and where in a chronically frantic battle to stay in the league. That did him good. It taught him to fight, to play for the team and to make decisions quickly in high pressure situations. Great stuff. Now I'd like him to be in a strong team, high up the table, where he can rely more on the movements of other players and play with greater poise and confidence. Will that happen at Bolton? No. It's Birmingham Mark II. A bad side, playing bad football, with mostly bad players. That's why I don't see this as progress. Derby would have been better. Brighton would have been better. Wigan, Norwich, sides like that.

.

I've been as big a fan of Suso as anyone but you know that's a stretch even if you won't admit it. Ibe was more prominent if only because he was clearly given more of a platform by Rodgers. Suso wasn't seen much.

As for the loan deal, slightly disappointing that he's not gone to a better club but he did need to go somewhere in my opinion.
