I demand the finest January signings. I demand them here and I demand them now.

What gives? Not a snifter of any potential new recruits. Half way through the window and the transfer window is as dead as disco. I've been scouring twitter and the BBC gossip page each day and nada!

Am I missing something? Or is it all going to go off on the last day?

Unless we sign someone world class, I dont want to sign anyone.
Out team is good. Really good. And they fight for each other.
I dont care if we sign no one.

Valencia about to be taken over and spend some serious cash. It'll light the fuse in the next few days.

Yeah but I love a newbie. I get stupidly optimistic about them being the final piece of the puzzle. *Sulks*

Whoa! @allezlesrouge - 3rd post in six and a half years! In a thread I started as well. Good work - Keep those posts coming! A 'Like' for you. 😉

Daily Mail suggesting Rodgers could be restricted to only 1 signing

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2539570/Rodgers-set-discuss-transfer-budget-Liverpool-hierarchy-expects-Salah-signing.html]Brendan Rodgers is set to hold talks with Liverpool's owners on Friday but accepts that his January transfer dealings may be restricted to a bid for Basle's Mohamed Salah.

John Henry is expected to fly over from America for Saturday's home game against Aston Villa and will sit down with Rodgers and Liverpool's managing director Ian Ayre to discuss finances.

Rodgers is known to want a left-back, centre-back, midfielder and a striker but it is likely that most of his targets will have to wait until the summer.

The exception could be Salah, 21, who is valued at £16million by Basle. Liverpool are looking to pay little over half that for the versatile Egypt international and face competition from Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.

The Anfield boss insists he needs more goals from midfield after seeing Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson score just six between them in all competitions this season.

'The responsibility has always been the team,' said Rodgers. 'We always want more. When you play in those attacking positions it's your job to create and score goals.'[/article]

If that's true then our owners are complete bellends.

Two quality signings will be enough to all but guarantee top four, & quite possibly a serious title challenge.

I doubt we'll get a chance this good for a long time.

Imagine the scenario, those games against the top sides at home, with a top quality dm & goalscoring creative am in the side. Those two signings could adult see us get the points in those games. Then a couple of points dropped against each other & us still playing like flat track bullies & we are in pole position.

I think a really top quality FB, preferably versatile enough to cover either side, would improve us immeasurably.

True. I think Rodgers is counting on Johnson coming good. Understandably so imo.

Even in this shockingly bad form he offers an outlet that few other fullbacks can & helps the way we play more than most people seem to realise.

It was mentioned on theanfieldwrap podcast yesterday that this really bad form has coincided with that illness he had so it could be related.

A bit harsh, we're probably tied up with FFP at the moment. We can't spend under the assumption we'll make it, because if we don't we'll be hit hard. Anyway, they spent a lot in the summer, and if they're prepared to make another £10million outlay in January, then that's superb. I think the last thing we need right now is an overhaul of our team, it's in a very good place, don't rock the boat too much.

I know very little about Adriano at Barca but anyone who gets Keniget's seal of approval is good enough for me. That De Sciglio lad at Milan can play on either flank and is highly rated by all accounts.

No idea how much they'd cost though.

We need a couple signings. It'd lift the squad I reckon and we are light in a couple positions.

We're getting by at the moment and there is a lot of backslapping going on all round but it wouldn't take much to change that and then a more frank assessment of where we're at will, as always, be on the cards.

Well if the FFP suspicions are true then I think they have a fair excuse. There's no point in spending to qualify and being disqualified for spending.

If it goes tits up the finger will be squarely pointed at the transfer committee and scouting set up.

It's a good post, but I'd say that a LB and a CM (like M'Vila) would help us tremendously. We don't need to spend massive money now but two players - both capable of starting, or being active members of our squad rotation.

Tell me why and how "M'Vila would help us tremendously" over the next 17 games?

Allen/Gerrard/Lucas are not certs to stay healthy or near 100% ... Another CM to rotate in as needed will keep all of the aforementioned fresher as the season reaches its climax.

We've got 4 players capable of playing the CM role, and all of them are playing well. Your argument is effectively based on those guys maybe getting injured, or dipping in form? That's hardly convincing that spending 15M odd on someone questionable would helps us tremendously I'm afraid.

This is a really top class post from 2 months ago that's worth reading again - http://www.sixcrazyminutes.com/inde...-to-strengthen-in-january.39924/#post-1017691

(I'd take a left back though)

Whilst it's never nice watching someone blowing their own trumpet, you're right. I'd like to sign Salah, as it would be nice to have another attacking player who can be rotated in without completely changing the team, realistically, I'm not that bothered if we wait until the summer.

It could be argued that they haven't stayed fit this season (Allen, Gerrard and Lucas having all been out) yet we've been able to cope just fine.

Another thread where I didn't post so I can go "I agreed with *insert name of person who was right long term*"
