No way should we aim for 5th. The best way to get as high as we can is to aim as high as we can.

Which is now 5th 😉

Isn't it silly though, had we got 9 points out of the Wigan, Blackpool, West Ham, West Brom games since Kenny came in (very realistic objective, IMHO), we would be well in the hunt for the CL spaces. And we all considered it unachievable back then. Just goes to show inconsistent the other 4 teams outside United are.

And we all talk about how hard it would be to get back into the top 4 next season? Look again chaps at all their results these past few weeks. We're not that far off. Had we won 1 or 2 more games under Roy, and one or two under Kenny, we would have been thereabouts...

Amen to that. We're not as far behind as we think we are. Saying that we could say the same about Everton.

true enough, but over the past 7 years we've been in the top 4, so it's not a flash in the pan for us to be up there,..... for the Bluenoses, it's another story..

Everton are performing pretty much at the same level they have for the last 7-8 years. It's us that have dropped to their level.

That's the very point localny's making though, and I agree with him. The only thing I'd add is that we have the potential to get back up where we want to be, and stay there, whereas the bitters frankly have none whatsoever. I wonder if even they realise how far above themselves Moyes has managed to get them performing, for some of the time at least.

Do you reckon Moyes is in with a shout as Fergies replacement. Would suit the Glazers eye for frugality.

No.
It will be Maureen.

Yes. Moyes has taken the bitters as far as anyone could, Ferguson rates him and it would be a big step up for him, which could well be enough to persuade him to take on the VERY risky assignment of being Ferguson's successor. Mourinho by contrast is already at an even bigger club, and - while anything's possible in theory - I can't see him letting himself in for the task of following Ginsoak.

I cannot see Moyes succeeding Ferguson unless he wins something. He has done a great job in the premier league but I think he would have made a stronger case for the Manc job had he won a Carling Cup somewhere or gone on a good European run. His teams have been at the end of some embarrassing defeats in Europa league also.

When ferguson retires, it is going to be Maureen or whomever is the Klopp, Villas Boas, Deschamps at that time.

Let's wait and see. I think they may well look to make a lower-key appointment when the old git finally shoves off, not least because they'll know whoever takes it will be on a hiding to nothing and could well not last a long time.

Hmmm....who for the job following Fergie...

Maureen - won everything, everywhere.

Moyes - *crickets*

Gollum wanting it or not won't matter a frig.
It'll be about guaranteed trophies, success, shirt sales, etc...

Fergie and Maureen are bezzie mates !

Fuck's sake, wake up !

It's all being lined up.
Yes.

Proverbial house on fire.

I think Jose is more likely to end up back at Chelsea then anyone else in England.

Ferguson won't ever retire. He'll be there till he's dead. So there's no chance of him 'hanging around' while a new manager is installed.

I've got my fingers crossed his replacement will be Mike Phelan. Or perhaps Steve Bruce...
Agree Jules. Would jose rally want it with fergie hanging around behind the scenes too?
Exactly

I'm feeling it big time now. 4 points off 4th with Citeh still to play Spurs and Spurs to play us.

The cats are among the pigeons now.

There is a chance. If Spurs are in with a shout, so are we.
