I believe in 4th

We most probably wont make it but there is still a chance(more so for 5th) and I'm enjoying the ride at the moment as there is really nothing to lose.

I'm just looking forward to seeing us play again now. I absolutely love watching Suarez and I think he has it in him to be one of the best in the world. Carroll will only get better and Stevie will be returning in a couple of weeks so we'll be stronger than we have been in a long long time. I'm already happy with that and what we can still salvage from this season is just an added bonus.

Unfortunately Spurs have to play Citeh so if one of them picks up 3 points it's all over for us. Though we do have an outside chance if we keep winning and Spurs lose at Citeh / Chelsea / Us, and home to Arsenal.

eh? i don't get that at all. surely it's a bonus for us that spurs and city play each other - guaranteed dropped points. for me this is one of the big things in our favour in terms of making the top 4, the other being that they both still have to come to anfield.

tbh i'd given up on the idea after we drew with wigan and haven't really looked closely at the table since, but yesterday was the first time since that i've thought it might just be possible. obv it's a given that we'd have to beat both spurs and city to stand any chance, so if you factor that in and say (fingers crossed) they draw with each other, then the gap to close is 2 pts on spurs and 3 on city.

i think 7 wins and a draw would do it in those circs. that's a massively tall order, obviously, but it's nice just to be in with a shout.

It's still possible, but like someone said earlier improbable - that won't stop me from hoping though. I do believe we can do it. In addition to the 6-pointers against City and Spurs that have been highlighted, we have to pay particular attention to the West Brom game - it's a game we must win. If we do win those three games and then other results go in our favour, we might just be able to sneak into the top four.

I fancy us against City, despite their excellent squad and (on paper) front line, while Spurs can blow hot and cold, especially on the road. Those two games will be massive and the fans will hopefully make it a European-esque atmosphere. Then we have Spurs' ties against Madrid to factor too, maybe we'll have enough edge on them and they will be distracted by the CL.

It's possible, we have to beat West Brom first though and I really don't fancy our chances at the Emirates.

There'll be more twist and turns.

I believe as well as Krump, the games against the Mancs and Sunderland certainly filled the players and fans a like with great confidence.

If we have our best team out and it's on form, I think we have a good chance there and could certainly see us winning by the odd goal.

Agree otherwise.

Suarez, Carroll and Gerrard are more than capable of causing trouble for City, Spurs, Arsenal or whoever.

I think Carroll in particular could have a field day in the box with the arsenal CB's who every time I watch them struggle against anyone remotely big.

If all three are fit we've got as good a chance as anyone at getting a result.

rather gerrard wasn't called on. hasn't he just had an operation? rather he were just left to fully recover and be fit and fresh for next season.

Come on SN, he needs about 4 weeks to recover and has already had about 2 weeks, he should be fit after the international break

If having him fit was the difference between CL/europa league and a slightly less fit Gerrard in August or nothing and fit Gerrard in august, I'd be inclined to go for the former, Man spider.

Yup HC is right, Stevie will also have the whole of the summer to chill and recover as there are no tournaments this summer.

We'll need to take close to maximum points to stand a chance.

It's highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

This is how I see our remaining fixtures panning out:

WBA A 1-2 Win

Man City H 1-1 Draw

Arsenal A 0-2 Loss

Birmingham H 2-0 Win

N'castle H 3-0 Win

Fulham A 1-1 Draw

Tottenham H 2-1 Win

Villa A 0-1 Win

17 Points from a possible 24

City currently have 53 points so if it panned out like this they'd have to get less than 9 points from a possible 24.

Can't see it happening.

A bit optimistic, but I have us down for 20 points, you will note I have not got us down to lose.....blind optimism??? Probably, but we were pretty comfortable against Chelsea and United.

We will ship a few goals I am sure, but I do think we will now score more than we concede in these matches.

I think we'll drop points against the lesser teams, especially whilst Gerrard isn't here.

That said, in recent times this club always seems to perform the best when we're coming from behind, knowing what we have to do, so I would never rule anything out.

So Liverpool 20 points final total...............65

Spurs
Away Wigan Athletic Win

Home Stoke City Draw

Home Arsenal Draw

Home West Brom Win

Away Chelsea Lose

Home Blackpool Win

Away Liverpool Draw

Home Birmingham Win

Away Man City Lose

16 points = 49 - Total 65

City

H Sunderland Win

A Liverpool Lose

A Blackburn Rovers Draw

H West Ham United Win

A Everton Draw

H Stoke City Win

A Bolton Wanderers Draw

H Tottenham Win

15 + 53 = 68

So we will just pip Spurs on goal difference then into 5th spot 😉

Fucking West Brom are letting me down in my predictions here

Yeah, this topic died at the Hawthorns. I think it will be a matter of a couple of points but we can't manage it now.

city are being shit and spurs might collapse with some tricky games.

its not over yet, but we're hanging by the thinnest of threads. ANY dropped points now will cost us even the remotest possiblity

I've done the BBC predictor thing and have us finishing in 5th, one point ahead of Spurs, 7 behind Chelsea.

A season which saw us briefly in the relegation zone (and I'm convinced we'd still be there or thereabouts if Roy hadn't gone) has turned into this. I know we're not yet where we want to be, but sod it, I'm loving it. 8)

How impossible is it yet?? Can we still get fourth??
[/quote]

I don't think it is, we should aim for fifth really. I think Spurs could really mess up with so many big games coming up and we have to take advantage of that.
