Despite all the doom and gloom at least we are able to hold on to some of our marquee players!!

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Liverpool have taken the surprising step of opening contract talks with second choice goalkeeper Brad Jones.
The Aussie shot-stopper was widely expected to leave Anfield when his current deal expires this summer. However, the Reds have now decided to make the 33-year-old an offer to stay put.
Jones has made 25 appearances since his £2.3million move from Middlesbrough five years ago – serving as the deputy to first Pepe Reina and then Simon Mignolet.
He was handed his chance back in December after Mignolet’s slump in form but a thigh injury suffered at Burnley on Boxing Day wrecked his hopes of a sustained run in the side.
Since regaining fitness, he hasn’t featured with Mignolet’s revival cementing his status as Liverpool’s No 1.
The Reds had planned to sign a keeper this summer to replace Jones and compete with the Belgium international but the fact that they have belatedly approached him over a new deal suggests there has been a change of heart.
“There have been discussions,” confirmed Rodgers.
“Obviously, Brad is in his last year but nothing has been resolved on that.”

In all seriousness whats this all about. Money saving? Prioritising? He's a fantastic influence in the dressing room? He will be third choice?

He seems like a decent guy but surely we need better competition for Mignolet?

None of us needs reminding of Jones' mistakes but maybe we also need to remember he hasn't been all bad. We won the Carling Cup under the King with Jones in goal all the way through, and that run included one or two good displays. How likely is it that we'll find a much better keeper willing to play second fiddle to Ming, especially given that Ming's finally showing why we bought him in the first place?

He's nowhere near good enough to be Liverpool no.2, especially when our no.1 has been previously prone to sudden loss of form/confidence.

fk sake! we need Ryan or someone good enough to challenge Mignolet. No competition with Jones

Or.... we can hang on to him for another year instead of fannying around spending money in a player to sit on the bench, when all our money should be spent on a forward who will deliver the goals we need at the other end of the pitch.

Actually i dont think we have any marquee players.

If someone in our squad thinks he is one...he can go and get fucked.

We have some good players(more than what we had under Hodgson) who need one or two players of the caliber of Suarez and StevieG of old to show them the way forward.

So we have now withdrawn the contract offer to Jones. Does anyone at the club know what the fuck they are doing? It's fucking amateur hour every day.

Really!? How do you know?
I feel bad for the man, definitely not the way to treat anyone (let alone someone who has conducted themselves so professionally while at the club).

By the same token - we'd only be withdrawing the offer if he didn't except it.
