henderson needs to be taken out of the firing line while he matures into the player he is going to be. I see flashes but not enough to warrent a starting place, its costing us too much.

Name one thing he does well.

Passing, running with the ball, one touch football, good engine, mobility, good technique, good allround play and young.

Whats wrong with keeping him in the squad? He'll only get better. Been played in to many games and out of postion isnt his fault. Needs confidence.

Come on Hansern, you know as well as I do he showed no spine today.

I think thats wrong. He showed that on several occasions. Had Lucas been fit, he should have started on the bench alongside Spearing though. He's young and learning, and with that looks out of depth at times.

His passing is o.k but unadventurous,he needs confidence but I'm struggling to see a top class midfielder in there.

I am obviously in the minority but I thought that Henderson was decent in the second half and complimented Gerrard in a central two pretty well.

I've said it for a while, we need two quality centre midfielders - there's enough available out there.

If we had even one more then we've got, Spearing or Henderson wouldn't be starting and we wouldn't be so bothered about carrying ONE of them.

All of those things you listed are attributes ANY footballer should have no matter the level. And herein lies the problem, he is the definition of average. He doesn't do anything particularly well at the premier league level to justify his inclusion in the starting XI week in and week out.

He is not a good tackler, crosser of the ball, poor close control, can't take players on, doesn't score goals, and doesn't provide assists.

He's just not very good.

We have a player with great talent but possible mental weakness.
Now do we try and coax out the player, investing minutes on the pitch in the hope he'll come good? Or is this too dangerous in what could be a crucial season next year

Do we loan him out to see if he can capture some form and learn when to release a killer ball? Or is that a waste of the talent he has?

Plonk him in the reserves so he can settle without the irate fans being on his shoulders? Or is this admitting our transfer failure?

Or sell? Will he come back and bite us on the arse.

He obviously has talent but is terrified of showing it to the world. This year he could have been competing for a place in the euro squad; now, would Roy take him?

I'd plonk him in the reserves. He needs to adapt quickly and he needs to adapt to the club more than he seems to have. I like him, hes got a lot of potential, but he needs to play with a freedom that the pressures of our first XI aren't allowing.

I have no idea what to do with this guy, when he was trying to do those long distance shots and kept missing he had plenty of room and time to get a better shot in but was too rash each time. He really does have a mental weakness - needs to take a lesson from big Andy.

I think you're wrong. And hopefully he'll prove it next season.

I think Henderson wouldn't get half as much stick if he scored a few goals, assisted more regularly or produced the odd moment of magic.
Unfortunately he doesn't and when you combine that with him shitting out of tackles, always picking the easy pass and generally not taking any responsibility on the pitch, it makes him an easy target for criticism - rightly or wrongly.

Gary. Have you got blood in your poo?

You've seen the adverts.

The poo is the players, the blood is the bad stuff/danger.

Henderson is blood in our poo.

I just don't know what type of player he is. Most players you can say that have one strength but what is his, he is rubbish at shooting, can't tackle, not a winger, not a defensive midfielder, not a great assist man. I just don't know what is his strength

Man - you just took the words right out of my mouth - thats exactly my view - I have no idea what this guy is supposed to be good at. I mean what's his real position when we bought him ? - right mid, cen mid, def mid, left mid ? can he score goals ? can he shoot like SG ? WHAT THE F*CK is this guy all about. The quote by Gary25 regarding passenger is accurate - I don't know what he does for the team. When he is playing you hardly notice him unless he kicks the ball into row z.

Henderson is a good passer of the ball, yes. He nearly always finds a red shirt. However, finding a red shirt every time is very fucking simple when every pass you make goes backwards.

He rarely makes a good attacking pass. Countless times this season he had opportunities to set up an attacking manoeuvre but he bottled it and passed it back to Skrtel or Carra. He just doesn't have the balls to take a gamble. He adds absolutely fuck all to the team. He's just a part of the furniture at Anfield. He needs to be shown the door immediately.

He needs to spend the summer at one of those soccer schools learning to shoot properly.

This is also wrong. Last week against Norwich he started nearly every attack for us. He's a young kid whose been out of his depth some times in his first season.

Give him some time and have some patience.
It worked out pretty good with Lucas, remember???

Maybe we could use him as a cheerleader? He could stand on the sidelines and do copious amounts of keepy-uppys.

Yeah, or maybe we could bring him on at half time and he could chip a few balls into the crossbar.

And I'm with Whitey - he doesn't have "great talent". He's a slightly above average footballer with the composure of a hedgehog.

Me and one other person voted to put him in the reserves.

Who was it?

Part of Liverpool's struggles this season could be attributed to big-money signings Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing failing to perform to expectations.

Barnes, who spent six years at Watford before joining Liverpool in 1987, feels they may have moved from their respective clubs too early, but has faith in them to prove their value to the club in the coming seasons.

"What is happening these days in football is that players have one season at a club and show great potential but they are then catapulted to a big club and suddenly expected to do well," he said.

"It hasn't worked in the first year but they have only had one year at the club and so I would say give them time because they have both played well in the last couple of months."

one swallow doesn't make a summer. Yes he played well against Norwich but to be fair the whole team played well that day. Don't get me wrong. I mean I've really tried to find the positives in Henderson. But I just can't. He's been here a full season, started almost every game, and yet I'm still waiting to see even a hint of something new or creative from him. He's just an average player that we blew 16 million on. He'll never come good as long as he's at Liverpool. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I can't see it. Like Charlie Adam, when we bought him, we just bought a player that stood out in a shit team.
