Harry Wilson - dead ball star

We can tick Ascensio off our radar. Harry’ll be our Ascensio and understudy to our front three next season.

PS : I mention Ascensio because those long range strikes remind me of him. Leftie too.

I think he's good enough to play, not just train. Did any of us expect Trent to make it so soon? Or Gomez to establish himself as first-choice CB this season? Young players tend to develop quickly; this guy has scored 6 goals in his last 7 games in the Championship and none of these goals look like they were going to be prevented by EPL keepers, those were all real quality strikes.

He is not a finished article, obviously, but because of the goal threat he can probably give us more than Lallana at this point. For fucks sake, as we speak Mane has a cut on his foot and we have literally no one to play on the left wing against Bounemouth – it's either going to be Origi or Firmino (who should really be rested) playing out of position. As long as Ox is injured, there will be plenty of games where a player with his versatility could feature.
Trent is younger and was better than Harry when they played together in the reserves.
Hence why Trent didn't need loaning out.

Hmm. There's been plenty of examples of young players developing at different rates, and also an immense amount of flip-flopping about why young players should stay, and not go on loan, and then that changing rapidly, both in terms of the stance and also the players it applies to. cf Woodburn.

Quite often opportunity and luck also play a big part in who breaks through and when. It's not all about pure talent.

Well, first of all I don't think Klopp will bring him back unless he plans to use him. And if Jurgen Klopp tells you he needs you to come back and play with your mates Trent and Joe in a team that is in the title race and CL – hell yeah, you will run back! We'll be stronger and deeper in Wilson's position next season; 2nd half of this season might actually be his best chance establish himself at Liverpool.
We will be out of the Champions league and probably FA cup in January.

Mane’s injury has shown us already how we lack depth on the wings. LFC comes first and if we need him then he should/will be here.

Mane, Salah, Wilson and Shaq are capable of pure wing play (and all are strong coming in off the wing, infield, to link up and score) and should provide enough depth through to the end of the season. We could definitely do with more goal threat and an excellent free kick specialist.

Firmino, Sturridge and Origi are not and shouldn’t be played on the wings. We’ve already seen how detrimental to the team it is to try to play them out of their natural, stronger positions.

We're fucking vying for a title and still just about in the champions League , if we are still in the current state come Jan I sincerely hope the reinforcements are more substantial than Harry Wilson !

It's also unfair and unrealistic to take a lad having a boss time in the championship and asking/expecting him to replicate in the world's most competitive league!

I don't see that Lampard is a proven top coach, so the deference shown towards him can stop, but purely in terms of getting playing time and competitive experience it's probably best if Wilson stays there until the end of the season.

Derby vs Forest on Sky tonight. I'll be tuning in to see how Harry does in a heated atmosphere like this. Would love to see him slot another FK in.

I'd like to see how he runs, his positioning, intelligence, passing etc.
Of course I can't judge him based on one game but it'll be interesting.

Wilson has to hit the gym, he looks like 16 year old.

Anyway, quiet game from Wilson. He's trying though, but Lawrence and Mariott aren't giving him the ball.

And another one:

He's fucking incredible at this, isn't he? I still think we can use some of this at LFC. Imagine if one of these thunderbolts wins us a crucial game in the title race or CL, it would be worth recalling him just for that.

If it doesn't work out for him we'll at least get a few million pounds for him.

He’d have to be on the pitch for that and it’s a confidence thing too.

Who’s he gonna be on? Shaq? Nah

Why not, theres nothing to say he cant work as a backup to Shaq or Mane. I think Lallana is done for us, his legs have gone and hes always injured. I dont see any reason why he can't be in the squad next year, same as Grujic.

I was referring to the idea of recalling him for this season.
Next year see how he goes in pre season and make a call then.

Let him continue to tear up the championship and impress

I can make an argument that he’s already proven himself in the Championship over the last year and a half of loans and now is the time for the next step - trying to break into Klopp’s team.

Is it difficult? Of course! But we already have 2 young players who overcame serious competition to become first-choice under Klopp, there is a clear precedent. And Wilson has an advantage of being a player with a goal threat, someone you can bring on in the last 20 minutes of a game and because of his shooting ability from range he can give you better chance of getting a goal than many of the senior attacking midfield players in our squad, say Lallana, Keita or Gini.

He ain't tearing up shit to be fair...scored some nice goals but even Derby fans think he's pretty average.

Wait til Klopp gets his hands on him in pre season n take it from there.
If Klopp decides he sees a worldy there he'll fight to keep him like that Brewster kid

Brewster turns 19 in April
Wilson turns 22 in March

Are you searching for very specific weird posters on Derby forums? The majority think he’s quality, after a slow start getting used to the team.
A City supporter can look at a LFC forum and proclaim Liverpool fans are calling for Klopp’s head and advocating bringing back Rafa, but that wouldn’t be a fair reflection of the majority would it?
