The cross was better than the goal he scored. Hes gotta be worth 6 months next season in the squad in place of Lallana

There is no replacing Lallana, it's like replacing a patient in the hospital.
I mean sure get Kewell back from retirement, he'll keep our physio's occupied.

My mates just told me that Wilson has scored over double the amount of goals from outside the box than any player in the top 4 leagues

Be interesting to see if he can do at the top level
TBH a lot of his goals (FKs, Outside the box) are not dependant on league (except maybe the amount of time given and quality of goalkeeper) especially in the Championship. I'm sure he could score as well in the PL (though of course he is on somewhat of a roll at the moment and that won't last). It's whether his all round game warrants a place.

Macca ?

I think that’s a big assumption, time on the ball, opposition, keeper, confidence, run of games. All things he prob wouldn’t get here.

I hope he can replicate it but it’s a big step up.

Yeah, if he could replicate or even approach the same stats in the PL, he would become a genuine star. In fact his stats for the season are almost identical to Mane – both have 9 league goals, and 1 assist, Mane has 10 and 3 in all competitions, Wilson 11 and 3. I have no doubt he can score in this league; I guess the decision whether to recall him hinges on his all-around play – can he seamlessly slot into this team?

Well he wouldn’t seamlessly slot into Mane’s position, that’s for sure. You can compare stats but he’s a completely different player.
If he’s capable of slotting into the central midfield attacking position in a 4-2-3-1, he’d be great cover for us.

Thank you.
People over here losing their minds over this kid. He ain't anywhere near good enough to replace Mane.
OK, sure a bench role wouldn't be too far off but still though.
Anybody who knows anything about football, also see that there's a stylistic mismatch between how Wilson plays and how we play.

Another belter. I think it says a lot about his character that he is really showing himself on these loans - getting proper stuck in and playing his best. Sometimes I get the feelings that some youngsters go on loan and their heads drop thinking they've lost their chance at their parent club and just can't produce. Harry was essentially MVP for Hull in the second half of last season and he showing to be a match winner for Derby. I read that they want more from him in build up play and that he sometimes goes missing - but he's a youngster and this is the experience for him to work on that in a competitive environment. Would love to see him become a reliable bench option for us next season - he also looks like he could be handy against opposition who park the bus.

I've not watched Wilson play (aside from the odd YouTube clip) - why is there is a mismatch?

I've said it before and so did Juniormember above, he might fit as an AM, but we don't really play with an attacking midfielder. He isn't the Mane, Salah, Sane, Zaha type winger who beats you with pace and skill.
He also lacks the physicality from what I've seen. He's almost fricking 22 and built like a 17 year old.
He does have an amazing shooting and crossing technique though, but is it enough?
Also, our front three are also constantly running, hardworking players. Haven't seen that from Wilson.

Shaqiri and Coutinho don't fit either based on that logic (putting aside his build which can be worked on).

The main questions for me (as someone who hasn't watched him) is whether he's technically and tactically good enough to play in our team.

The difference is Shaqiri and Coutinho are both top class players meaning that they can play in several positions. They're both comfortable with the ball, can easily spot a pass or create their own chances with their technique.

I think he can play LW, AM and RW, in other words anywhere across the attacking midfield positions in a 4-2-3-1. He would be harder to fit into a team in a 4-3-3, as he's not a forward or a CM.

@Modo, did you see Wilson play for LFC reserves before he went on his loan spells? Our reserve teams are modeled on the tactics of the senior team to make transition for young players easier and Wilson seemed fine with our style of play, in fact he was the captain and scored and assisted regularly.

I did see him play for the reserves, but the only one who stood out for me was TAA and he's rightly playing for the first team now, while being two years younger than Wilson.
I do know that the reserves mimic the tactics and the formation of the first team, but he hasn't played for the reserves for almost 2 years. I'm not saying that he didn't play well, he just wasn't exceptional. Players who've made it before him were. In recent memory Sterling, Suso and TAA.
