C'mon Oncey cough up, you know exactly where this is going and you know exactly what the logic is.
I was 3 years old in 1977. I saw Star Wars at the cinema. Good times.
I spent most of my childhood watching Liverpool, wide eyed and passionate and The king and his massive thighs were a jaw dropping inspiration to me growing up as a lad.
Gerrard is a better footballer.
The End.

He just isn't, he isn't as good as Souness either. He has never dominated the great midfielders, like Keane and Viera. Souness always Dominated everything and everyone. He has been a great player in a less than average time, but a Dalglish or Souness he has not been, nor now will ever be.
I have seen the debuts and the full careers of all three players, when you were just going into reception class I was just getting married, and getting my first Anny Road end ground season ticket, and Kenny had just signed.
Trust me on this one Andy you, and anyone who says otherwise are very wrong.
No i dont trust you, or agree or think that your reference to my age or schooling is fair, reasonable or..........................
You know what VQ, i typed a longer 'bit' out just then and then thought that i just didnt want to type 'that way' to you. If it was almost anyone else but you i would have fired off both barrells. But you are a LFC hero and i just cant be in THIS kind of tete a tete with you, so i will duck out.
I will never agree so there isnt any point in you and i going round in circles here. Dalglish is a better forward, but thats it, Gerrard is a better footballer, and age or how much ive seen of that person has naught to do with it, as i said for the same reason Maradona is better than Messi and Dalglish is better than Torres im not interested in playing the age game or the 'whipersnapper' card because its not relevant to someone who has had a good education in both parties.
Im rambling, coz ive drunk wine. Dont care, Gerrard is better and a team of Gerrards would MURDER a team of Dalglishes.
That said i love Dalglish more and as such feel uncomfortable with this whole conversation. FOR WHICH I BLAME YOU YER CUNT.

So do I. If Souness in his prime had come up against Stevie in his prime there'd only have been one winner, and it wouldn't have been our current skipper.

Souness was immense and his impact on the sides he played in was even greater than the impact Gerrard has on his. And we would all agree which era had the better team.

I love Gerrard etc etc, but Kenny is our greatest ever player and Stevie, great as he is, wouldn't even be the first name in my midfield (he would be 2nd though).

Souness was a better centre mid than Gerrard, that's easy to establish. But I don't think Souness would have got that beauty against the Greeks, dragged us back at Istanbul or scored from 4 miles against West Ham.
Souness is probably the best CM we've ever had. But Gerrard is Roy of the Rovers stuff, much moreso than Souness.
I was 6 or 7 when we signed Dalglish, not that that makes any difference.
The argument has started to get a bit personal when it need not.
Gerrard, Dalglish, Souness and Rush are the best players we've had since I've watched.

No one is making this personal, i am just trying to make the point that i keep makimg in all these "greatest player" threads, and that is no one is qualified to say. If we had someone aged 80 on here who said Billy Liddell was the greatest, i would not argue.
I was 6 when he stopped playing and do not have a clue. Every ball that Gerrard kicks is seen by TV these days, when Kenny was at his prime only a small selection of highlights of 1st division games ended up on MOTD, and Liddell just had bits of Pathe News clips at the Cinema.
Anyway Andy, no one should be immune, if you want to give both barells, so go ahead if you think my opinions or my argument is that wrong, but I have to say if my experience is that scorned it kind of defeats part of my worth around here.
Regards

I think when Gerrard retires and we look back at his achievments under the regime he was playing under we will realise he was the greatest individual to wear the shirt.
Behave Vladimir, if you added up the errrm 8 years we have posted together on i have probably only disagreed with you about 4 times. This is just one of them.
And im not changing my opinion and i respect yours (as i respect Modo picking Barnes) as it is subjective of course.
But Gerrard is the best, just as Chicken and Stuffing sandwiches are better than BLT's
So yeaaaah.

The Quiff is right here.

Souness would, imo, have swatted Gerrard aside with one tousle of his moustache.

But as he says, no one, is qualified to say who is the greatest - unless they say Dalglish!

Heeeeey....

Wait a minute. I didn't pick Barnes, I picked Dalglish. He's the undisputed number one IMO. To be honest I was about five years old when Dalglish was in his peak, but after viewing the countless VHS-cassettes my dad has from those days and listening to the stories he's told me about those days, it's a no brainer for me.

Regarding Barnes, well I have him as my number two, my dad as well. Asked my dad about it and he said that purely on skill he's the best he's ever seen in red, counting todays players. Gerrard is a dynamic player but Barnes was "magical", as he put it. "Then he got fat", he added.
Other favourites are Souness, Hansen, Rush and Kennedy for some reason. The fullback.

I was never sure if that was quick thinking or if Sammy couldn't actually get up without help.
