What ever the result today, he is doing better than anyone expected. He got his team to Europe, has the best home record of any team in the PL with 14 wins in a row

Incredible job he's doing, no doubt about it. Gonna give a Klopp a run for his money for manager of the season at this rate.

He took them to a European final. Also had like a 22 game unbeaten run.

Remarkable they sacked him.

How would people rank the surprise teams in each of Europe's top 5 leagues how well they've done between PSV, Nice, Leverkusen, Girona and Villa?

He's clearly an excellent coach. This is basically the same squad Gerrard had mired in the bottom half. Villa park is becoming a proper fortress, but they still, like ourselves, are not always great away from home. Our match against Villa was probably our most straightforward win of the league season.

The issue for Villa is he’ll get taken by a bigger club 100%

Other than the real top clubs in England, no one else spends as much as Villa though. He might decide he's found a place that's good for him. If they can consolidate their top 4-6 status over multiple seasons, the board have shown no issues backing their managers (many of whom came with a much lesser pedigree).

Maybe but if the top 6 in England top 3 in Spain or Italy or Germany come calling he’ll be off.

This is very true, Villa also have the capability to outspend most clubs in Europe right now.....& I'm talking every club in Italy bar maybe Inter, every club in Spain bar Real, every club in France bar PSG and every club in Germany bar Bayern.

He's already had a stint at PSG, don't think he'd go back......don't see the other clubs letting go of their managers anytime soon.

Utd is the only real possibility for him at the moment in terms of a bigger club but would he leave Villa this season for that shite?

I very much enjoy watching Aston Villa play. They have utmost confidence from the back, their patterns of play to break the press are both practiced and require some serious skill and risk. The way they combined for their goal was incredible.

Kinda wish our back line played together like that.

Italy has no pull anymore! 1/3 full stadiums with crumbling infrastructure, sell to buy model everywhere.
Real Madrid, PSG, Barcelona, Bayern, Dortmund, Manchester United, US, Manchester City are all possible options for him in 2-3 years

For all the excellent work Emery is doing. This doesnt reflect well on Gerrard.

Emery killed Gerrard’s career much like De Zerbi killed Potter’s.

Dyche vs Lampard also looks very unflattering for the latter. “Managers don’t matter,” huh?

"Player's don't matter" might be the new inference 🙂

De Zerbi is over rated by most of you all! He has done nothing yet.
Of the new managers who is doing the best so far,

Here is my ranking
  1. Good Ebening
  2. Good Day Mate
  3. Alright Lads, fancy a scran
  4. The Wolves Manager
  5. Ciao, we play sometimes good sometimes shit

When Jurgen eventually leaves, I wouldn't mind us trying either Emery or Xabi.
Emery's a fantastic manager. Though in terms of charisma he's so far away from Klopp I don't know how I'd feel watching his interviews.

Xabi will already have been snapped up by some other team by then. I really hope he's strong enough to turn down Man U and Chelsea.
Seems to me that we're going with Lijnders.
