I thought Flanno performed well enough on the left last year. Now that we have other options on that side, anyone prepared to go into opening day with Flanno on the right?

So how much do you think you could get for the 30+ yr old, fading right back, on ridiculously high wages, with one year left on his contract?
Its certainly not ideal but Flannagan did well last season played out of position on the left, no reason he cant do the same on the right, if we hang onto Johnson for another season I think hes going to be pretty much worthless by next summer, his performances have dropped off drastically over the course of last season and he just doesnt seem bothered, for a guy playing in a team chasing a title thats fucking scandalous.
There's no question that Flanno has earned his chance. He was miles better than Glenjo last season. I'd still want someone else competing for the position but I'd have no problems with him starting the season there. (And I wouldn't have given him a hope of that at the beginning of last season.)

The thing that worries me about Flanagan is that wingers just walk by him. He was the most dribbled past full back last season or something? I'd still have him ahead of Johnson, but we need better than both of them.

That's bollocks, Modo. For most of the season Flannagan and Johnson did the exact same job, on different sides of the pitch. Flannagan excelled in every aspect, whereas Johnson was complete fucking muck for the entire season. Flanno also scored more goals. He was at fault for a lot less too.
How many more "goals" did he score? How many more assists did he have? How many more England caps did he get in the world cup?

I never said that he had a better season. But don't fucking make it sound like Flanagan is the new Markus Babbel. He's not even a Finnan yet.

People on here have very short memories, Flanagan was not by any means non existent in attack and did support it a fair bit, surprisingly composed on the ball too and with decent enough passing. He was far better than Johnson at pretty much everything last season, and I used to be a big fan of the latter.
It's not "spot on", it's not a simple job either. Playing against the best attacking players in the league as a young fullback is far from an easy task. As said, if it's that easy, why has Johnson been shit at it for so long?
Flanagan is far from the finished article, but he showed what hard work, a good attitude and a bit of determination can do. Johnson should take note, he's been coasting through season upon season. There's zero excuse for how lax and un-alert he looks.

I don't remember Carra being all that going forward when he played left back. You know, when he helped us win 5 trophies in 2001. His career didn't turn out too bad. I'm just delighted we have a local fighter who is in the first team squad and playing fucking well.
Thought Carra played at RB a lot more than LB?
