Rumours that a £4m fee has been agreed with QPR. Only Personal terms left to be agreed.

If true, would anyone actually give a funk?

erm... yes I would for selling him at £4M. He is at least worth £7M.

Perhaps. He is, however, on ridiculous wages from a pre FSG contract with 12 months remaining.

7M for England's right-back No. 1 is good deal for anyone. I quite like him, and to be honest no matter who we get for LB/RB for the long term - I cannot see anyone here ever being pleased with them. In fact when we do have a good one in either position no one seems to say anything - but if we have one that makes a single mistake - then they are fucked for the rest of time by all our fans. The last time anyone was happy with a RB on the forums was when we had Marcus Babbel.

I think he's decent, but considering his age and wages....

That's exactly how I feel but then I wondered why I care about wages at all.

Wasn't there talk of him playing with an injury last season? I'd lean towards keeping him and making him fight for his place, it might bring back the proper good Glen Johnson.

His form last season was extremely worrying. I used to be a fan, but some of the shite he was churning out last season makes me want to get rid. That, and the wages and his age, also make this the best possible time to get rid.

However, that said, it's no use getting rid without improving on him.

Always been a big fan but he has been truly awful for the last 6 months

So many errors

18 months in my opinion. 4m is a good fee considering the alternative is to pay him high wages to be a slouch for another season and lose him for free after that. He has talent no doubt, and on his day (which is really rare these days) is almost unplayable. My problem with him in the last 18 months has always been his attitude - he just goes hiding instead of taking on the responsibility as a veteran player should, of wanting the ball more, and wanting to do proper things with it.

I'd rather a hungry young player who tries but makes mistakes, than an overpaid veteran who doesn't bother.

Looks like there is something in this then, happy days! and good riddance.

QPR look like they are making exactly the same mistakes as last time signing older shit players who only really give a fuck about the pay day.

If we are replacing him with Manquillo, then yes a worry.
Flanagan isnt good enough either yet.

Kelly is just awful

I don't know. I really like what Iittle I've seen of Manquillo, he'll have bags of energy and desire to go with his precocious talent and he's got a much cooler sounding name too.

He's not a £120,000 a week footballer any more so I can see why the accountants would want rid, but until I hear of a suitable replacement coming in I'll be concerned.

Think we can get by until January at RB. We've still got deals to tie up for Striker and LB, and they have to be the priority.

I used to be a fan of his and defended his inconsistencies many times, but there can be no defence for his performances last season. He was shocking, complete and utter muck. Regardless of whether we get new fullbacks or not i don't want him starting against southampton. Play enrique and flanno as a fullbacks instead.

I was a big fan but hes gone backwards in the last 2 years, now is the right time to move him on with Flannagan, Kelly, McLaughlin and potentially Manquillo all much younger and cheaper in his position. That said £4m for 29 year old full back established at the top level is fucking insane it should be double that fee unless hes about to run down his contract

You really think those options are good enough for a team in the Champions League and aspiring to compete for the title?

It's completely inadequate in my view.
