Gerrard sending off

The penalty was very harsh, and a very very big call to make so early on in the game. I don't think it was a pen.

The sending off was probably right, any time you go in with two feet you've made it easy for the ref to send you off. Simple as.

Gerrard always gets a bit excited against Utd and Everton, the majority of his red cards have come against the two of them, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if they all had.

I'm not sure what the significance of that pic is, but it warms my heart to see the two best footballers I have ever seen play for us standing together, and working together for LFC.

Do it again, and I will poke your eyes out?

I love The King...and Stevie.

Ah, I'm so ashamed of my sentimental self.

I was about to post a comment during the match about Gerrard actually looking like the great Gerrard we all love. There was just something different about him - not saying he hasn't played a handful of great games already this Season, but still, something about him.

To many comments were flying in on here however and before I knew it, with my comments hanging in the air, he got send off and I wasn't going to bother posting it anymore.

That said having thought a bit about it, that was very much exactly the Gerrard we knew, the one who sometimes got over-heated, a bit too passionate, and threw himself into rash challenges. Simply because he really cared and wanted the win so much.

Fact of the matter is I'd easily have this Gerrard over the one who looks uninterested, frustrated, bothered whatever because that's the Gerrard oozing with passion, desire and the drive we've missed for the most part of a year or two.

Welcome back, Steve.

*This is not me wanting Gerrard to see Red every five games, but you'll get my drift. Perhaps.

Yes, I can see that perspective,

So can I, but I'm not sure I agree with it, because I don't actually think Gerrard has been off the pace that much this season, despite the cloud hanging over the club overall.

I'm not that sure there was any contact between Agger and Berbacunt. It looked as if Agger successfully pulled out of the challenge to me.
I thought he clipped him, but it was a nothing challenge really, made stupid because of where it was.
Well it wasn't a fucking penalty, that's for sure. If he did clip him he needed to go down on contact, not two strides later.

And Webb should be demoted for giving a decision from 25 yards away when his linesman didn't flag for it and wasn't consulted. Who does he think he is?

In a nut shell, Buddha.

I do, as long as we didn't re-invent football yesterday 😉
That was years ago mate.

It was a bloody awful invention anyways... 🙂

Webb's kids have just denied that he's a Manure fan. In a joint statement, George, Bobby, Wayne and little Cristiano said they couldn't understand the abuse their dad has been getting.

I agree with JJ, just watch the Napoli and Bolton games, that's Stevie G all over.
Agree and disagree.

He's had four or five great games this Season agreed but the real Gerrard - at least the one I've missed - is the Gerrard who's turning up week in, week out showing endless desire, passion and drive. It wasn't by any means a 'good game' for him yesterday but there was just something different about his attitude, approach and sheer determination.

Definitely.

He was AWESOME against Bolton, and has been easiy our best player so far this season. (Not a huge amount of competition, but still.)

Yesterday Gerrard was just too keyed-up, I think: United away, Kenny's first game. I'm not worried about Stevie at all. His attitude has been excellent ever since Rafa left. Torres on the other hand...

I thought his attitude was good last season, he's definitely matured a lot as a player (and a person). Before, when we were hitting real lows, he'd let his attitude go and he'd sulk (probably similar to Torres now), he deals with it much more professionally these days on and off the pitch.

Can't fault Gerrard for commitment. He has matured into a very good captain.

As for Torres, Kenny will get him firing by giving him back his magic wand!

One of the biggest issue with Gerrard being sent off.

Player Sent Off Under Law 12 (1), (2) and (3) - Serious foul play, violent conduct or
spitting at an opponent or any other person
will be suspended for 3 matches, fined £40 and subject to 4 penalty points

He is going to be fined 40 quid. ???

We should set up a SCM paypal account or collection agency to help our skipper cover this amount.

That's not the Gerrard I remember from last Season to be honest.

More than once I felt he looked like someone with his mind and focus elsewhere, certainly not playing and looking like his old self to me. Actually ever since his Bar-romp his performances where very unlike Gerrard. A few great, a handful good ones and several mediocre to almost poor showings.

Anyways that's all in the past now, he's back.
