Gary Medel - Maybe a DM after all

Not the sexiest DM-link, but an interesting and possibly realistic one. I thought he was the star of the Cardiff midfield (which is not saying much), but what an incredibly difficult DM job that was.

I think he could be a great option for not a lot of money. He probably would not play every week, but would be a more experienced option to Can and allow Milner to play further forward.

Yeah, Medel is actually a decent player. Would be a good squad player for us, and in a position where we're a little light. Would be all for it.

I don't remember how good/bad he was when he was in England for a year ...

I saw him regularly for Cardiff playing in CM and he was poor. I was amazed he got into the Chilean squad for the world cup but didn't realise they played him at CB. I thought he'd be as dodgy at CB as he was in CM but he was excellent in the world cup. For a short guy (I'd guess about 5'9") he was rarely caught out aerially and was combatative on the ground. I don't want us to sign him as he is awful in midfield and we already have enough CB's.

Can't see Brendan buying a DM at all myself. Medel is only 5 foot 7 though. He's like a Happy Shopper version of Mascherano.
