He isn't the best striker, or 'winger' in the world, but he is overall, very effective

Yes, we could do better, but we could just as easily do a lot worse, and great teams don't have 'the best player' in every single position
That sums it up fairly I think.

I wonder if we rated the best strikers in the world, where he'd end up.
he better than zlatan ibrahimovic and some people think that pile of shite is one of the best strikers in the world.

You must be joking, some of the posts about Xabi were cringe-making
Just like many of your posts about Rafa and many of our players.

OK, I don't think he is a great footballer, I certainly don't rate hi as highly than others, he tries to make up for his shortcomings by working very hard, and for some of the time that is enough.
Nobody is saying he's a great footballer.

Its pretty straight forward - it was stated that he's not a very good player > the statement is patently bollocks > you said you sympathised..... im confused. Are you saying he is or he isnt? Or were you simply defending another poster that you "get on with"?
I think you are confusing sympathise for wholehearted agreement.
Just for the record and I would say Bunny would probably agree with me on this, I would hardly say we "get on" that well.
I have always had my doubts about aspects of Dirk's ability and that is fairly well documented, and I don't want anyone to start thinking I am jumping on a bandwagon that includes a decent showing in the world cup, and that fact he he doing the decent thing for Liverpool.
What a strange tree you are barking up.

He has had some periods of form where he really should have been benched, and he certainly has flaws to his game, but he is a player that I've always liked for the many good things he brings to the team

He isn't the best striker, or 'winger' in the world, but he is overall, very effective

Yes, we could do better, but we could just as easily do a lot worse, and great teams don't have 'the best player' in every single position

He has often been unfairly maligned by Liverpool fans, which is disappointing for a player as good as he is

Still, when the likes of Xabi Alonso can get roundly and regularly abused, it is unsurprising
when has xabi been abused? people said his form dipped and that is about as bad as the critisism got.
Neil, many said he won't be missed. Many said he does nothing but pass.
ha ha oncy will never ever live that down ;D
That is not a dig at Oncy. A good few said that. Oncy said on numerous times he didn't want Xabi to leave. It was only when Alonso left that Oncy turned on him a bit as he wanted to find closure and move on.
s'alright I don't mind being the focal point. I didn't want Xabi to leave and was gutted he left. My argument was (and still is) that he could be replaced and given that he didn't score or create I wasn't buying into the mass hysteria regarding him leaving. My biggest gaff was thinking Lucas could replace him, not that he wasn't replaceable. We didn't replace him and still havnt. I also stated more than once what a wonderful passer he was, my point was that's all you get with him great passing. He doesn't score or assist. He just doesn't.

He pitched in with the odd goal and assist Andy, 4 goals off the top of my head in his last season with us (probably not as many as you'd like from a midfielder mind), but his passing spread the play and created space for the likes of Stevie and Nando to benefit. He would often also be the man to give the ball to the player who got the assist.

It's not about Alonso scoring goals though Andy. In his last season, I think we scored the most goals in the league that year. No one cared how many Xabi got himself. I called him our metronome and I still think he was. Anywayzzz he is gone now, so all this banging on about him will not help anyone. Watching him in the world cup doesn't help though.

I suspect your black and white thinking attitude probably prevents you "getting" Vlad's more subtle reasoning.

So although I totally think you're going the wrong way about dialogue, I can sympathise with your views given the lens through which you're looking at the issue.

Do shut up.

1. How likely am I to listen to someone who clearly has problems even posting on a forum without spazzing the "Post" button more than once

2. Its not fucking "subtle reasoning" is it? "I think player X is utter shite" "I really think he is good for blablabla reasons....but I sympathise with your view". Theyre diametrically opposed points of view so why fuck about?

For fucks sake Oncy - how many times on this site does one of the "regulars" feel the need to jump in on behalf of one of the others, completely ignore the point being made, and in the process reaffirm the "club" of XXthousand post posters? Its shit, and it makes the site shit.

Im sure Vlad is more than capable of arguing his corner (or choosing not to if he thinks its pointless) without some fuckwit attempting to "jump in" on his behalf.

Christ on a bike! I KNOW!! My argument was NEVER 'He doesn't get or make goals = he's shit' my argument was that 'He doesn't score or assist, he just passes..BRILLIANTLY but that was his job and he can be replaced' that we didn't is our failing, not that he couldn't be.
I highlighted you point above. You point is all you get from him is passing but no goals or assists. I think the fact he didn't score goals isn't that important when you add up what else he brought us. He wasn't replaced because it is hard to replace exceptional players.

What a strange OTT reaction to what was clearly a flip comment. I don't think Kuyt is totally rubbish as a footballer, but Oncy's suggestion - which is what my post was a reply to - that he ought to be everyone's favourite Liverpool player, after Reina, just seems ludicrous to me. Compared to Gerrard and Torres (who are my favourite Liverpool players, along with Reina), he quite blatantly *isn't* that good at football. Is he?

I am pleased he's showing some loyalty though. And equally unsurprised, as he's always come across as a loyal, nice and hard-working bloke.

As for grjt... ha ha ha.

Ohhhh, got ya! Express small-minded opinion, get stomped on, then claim just to be being flippant - good climb down.

Still "he's not actually all that good at football" is he?

Searches for rolly eyes retarded mong smiley - just being flippant like.

Yeah, you got me good grjt. I'm so humiliated. If only I was as clever as you...

"He's not actually all that good at football"

A perfect teammate in that Holland team.

A lot less efficient in Rafa's system.

Woy will play a classical 4-4-2, where doest that leave our Dirk?
I'd play him up front with Torres.

Youre clearly right....obviously I completely disagree, but I SYMPATHISE with your opinion.

What abject fucking nonsense.
I suspect your somewhat black and white thinking attitude probably prevents you "getting" Vlad's more subtle reasoning.

1. "Spazzing"? Grow up. Ever considered I might have been having connection problems or am I a "Spaz" or "not a Spaz"

2. It is possible to have a diametrically opposed view to someone and (this is the subtle part) be able to bracket your view and appreciate the other's. Without that very human skill they'd be little resolution to any conflict.

3. I doubt if there is any "club" on here that I'd be considered a member and I'm sure Vlad doesn't consider me one of his favourite posters either. Your attitude that I'm trying to gang up on you with others kind of symbolises your black and white attitude (that I was arguing against in the first place). Someone is either with you are in another club. Maybe I can disagree with you and we can still be part of the 6CM club?

4. This is a forum. Any thread is open to input from others or do you want to keep discussions started between two posters to only those posters?

Granted, my post had an edge to it, reflecting my ill tolerance of those who come across as fundamentalist in their views and demand the same of others. i can't stand it and had just come out of a meeting with someone just like that. Fact is though, you've come across as exactly that in this thread with your insults ("Fuckwit, Spaz, retarded mong&quot😉 and needless aggression.

Just to clear, i wasn't "jumping in" on anyones behalf. I just thought you were irritating and wrong.

Well that was boring.

Just for kicks, regarding point 2 (It is possible to have a diametrically opposed view to someone and (this is the subtle part) be able to bracket your view and appreciate the other's.).....

The answer in this case is NO - read the thread, this wasnt any fully thought out ideological discussion;

"X player isnt very good" (coupled with no reasoning)
"I think he is good..." (coupled with reasoning) "but Im sympathetic to your view".

It was bullshit, and was highlighted as such. Im not actually sure what your contribution was, apart from tedious.

Fuck me, you're tedious grjt.

Anyway, let's play a game. I'll post several views on Kuyt written by other posters on this forum, and you can all guess who wrote them. OK? Here's the first. (I'll give you a clue: it's by someone who had a go at me in this thread for saying Kuyt 'wasn't all that good at football').

Kuyt's a shit striker and shit winger, he works hard but his best attributes are physical ones rather than football ones, he gives 110% every game which naturally endears him to alot of people, but we want to win the league, and if I have to watch that cunt hog the right wing much longer while Robinho, Ronaldo, SWP and a dozen others run amok for other sides, I'll fucking despair.

He's shit.

Is your point that someone else as well as you thinks that Kuyt isnt very good? In which case its a bit sad that youre not confident enough simply to back your own opinion

Is your point that someone has had a pop at you for not liking Kuyt when they themselves have criticised him previously? In which case, why the fuck would I care?

Is your point that you like trawling through swathes of previous submissions on a delightful Friday afternoon, to dig up posts from aeons ago and redefine the term tedious? In which case, there there

"I want to stay". See? It's THAT fucking easy.
Someone posited a theory that Torres and Gerrard are being reticent about saying anything about staying because they want to force the cunts on the board - out of fear, I guess - to commit major funds for players in order to placate them and make them stay, even though they'll stay anyway.

I wish I could be that optimistic!
Thats scraping the barrel of optimism right there!
