Forward Kuyt pledges loyalty to Liverpool

Dirk Kuyt has provided new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson with a piece of good news by declaring his intention to remain at Anfield next season.

After replacing Rafa Benitez as Liverpool manager, Hodgson has been forced to fend off suggestions that his primary task will be to retain his best players before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Fernando Torres is strongly linked with Chelsea, Steven Gerrard is believed to be interesting Real Madrid and Javier Mascherano is ready to tell Hodgson he wants to leave Merseyside in search of a new challenge.

However, Kuyt, who is currently preparing for Sunday's World Cup final between Netherlands and Spain, has no intention of leaving the club.

"Of course I want to stay," Kuyt said. "Liverpool is a great club with a great history. Unfortunately in my four years I haven't won anything but hopefully in the future, I will still have that chance.

"We will have to see what happens but hopefully the manager wants me to stay. I spoke to people at the club and I know he wants to speak with me. But it is very difficult at the moment because we are so busy and focus on what lies ahead."

Someone posited a theory that Torres and Gerrard are being reticent about saying anything about staying because they want to force the cunts on the board - out of fear, I guess - to commit major funds for players in order to placate them and make them stay, even though they'll stay anyway.

I wish I could be that optimistic!
 
I don't understand how Dirk isn't (along with Pep) everyones favourite redman. Fucking legend he is.

Its because pepe isnt as frustrating to watch as him This will all turn again during the season when he has his inevitable month-2months of poor form! But saying that its hard to find a player like him, ad he's very loyal, christ, he'll probably run back from south africa just to get here!

Yeah, but normally those players get dropped.

Not Dirk's fault, but it's really fucking frustrating, because when Dirk is bad, he is very bad.

Yes they do, but dirk is easy to criticize in those times! Im not saying I agree with it, just feel he takes more stick than most when he's off form.

I think it could.
At least Gerrard has won the CL, poor old Nando , for all his plaudits, must be thinking that he could end a great career with nothing to show for it. Not many get a WC winners medal, and it might just settle him for a season or so.
