Why isnt he in the squad?
Hes been our best defender this season and can play either side.
Is he just unlucky that we have 2 RB and 3 LB to pick from?
Id suggest a player who can play either side and rarely makes an error is better than Johnson, Cole, Shaw as options.
Baines is a shoe in obviously.

I can't understand why he isn't in the England under 21s.

Not only that hes not even in the U21 squad, he said yesterday he was quite gutted about it.

With Walker being out it wouldn't of hurt to call him up, why not?, he is keeping Englands number 1 right back out of that position at his club after all.

Being honest though i don't think hes England quality or ever will be, would love to be proven wrong on that though.

Why not?
I'll be honest I havnt seen a massive amount of full games this season sadly but he always seems to be excellent when i do.
Has he got flaws that im not seeing?

as other's have said he should be in u-21, but he has been sussed out a few times, especially by pacey wingers. A lot of potential but not international class (yet).

Managers will take a punt on youth up front but generally they want experience at the back. Young defenders have to work that much harder to get their shot.

Anyways, I don't think he deserves a call up to the senior squad just yet. He's still fairly inexperienced and hasn't been in the first team for that long.

It might've been different if he'd have been outstanding for us, but in truth, he hasn't. He's been solid, which is great for us as a youth player, but it's not enough to go to the World Cup.

Flanno just needs to use the snub as motivation to improve further and up his performances to force Woy's hand. there's still time to get on the WC plane.

Yep. I kind of agree with Keni though, it's early days. Three years ago him and Robinson both looked the part, then they both hit a brick wall. We need to see how he reacts to a mistake or a knock back (like this), whether he lets his head drop or whether he rises above it. He's doing well and has improved immensely on his ability to support the attack, now he just needs to develop his contribution when in the opponents half and he could really become a very good fullback.

Defensively he's fine, people just took a dip in form and a few mistakes (by a kid) as confirmation that he wasn't good enough. Same with Sterling. They're young and it's inevitable that they will lose their way at some point, it's how they come through it that's important, with the right support that is.

Flanno is a Scouser with the heart of a champion. He'll do just fine living his dream. I'm backing the lad to do the necessary!

He could be England's new Nobby Stiles, dancing a joyous jig after England has bombed out from the first round won the World Cup.

He has an Irish grandparent apparently.
Just saying, 😎

Six Degrees of Cascarino:

1. Tony Cascarino's maternal grandfather was Irish, but he wasn't his grandfather.
2. The grandfather who wasn't his grandfather was not married to the grandmother who Stephen Ireland wrongly claimed was poorly.
3. Stephen Ireland had to obtain a restraining order to prevent Kerry Katona from shouting 'Shop!' through his letterbox every single morning.
4. Kerry Katona owes money to Jon Flanagan's Dad.
5. John Flanagan's dad is mates with Kenny Dalglish.
6. Kenny Dalglish is more Irish than Tony Cascarino.

He's not cool enough.

And England can't be having a lad running around with a boner, bad for business that.

He should form a pact with Sol Campbell - "England's Nearly Men against institutionalised racism and bonerism"

Very odd that Woy started with 2 full backs who can't get a place in their preferred position (or at all) at their current clubs.
