Ok, I've bitten my tongue long enough....

Man U = promoted opposition at home
Chelsea = promoted opposition at home

Whereas we get stuffed with consistent Top 4 opponent at home. Not to mention trips to both Manchester clubs in the first 6 games. Look at Utd's first six fixtures versus ours.

Its a fucking carve up.

It's annoying but it should mean we have an easier period towards the middle/back-end of the season when results matter most and we have an idea what we're playing for.

Also, the fact that we start the season doing Europa league qualifiers should theoretically mean that we start the season off fast.. the harder the games then, the better (should we win them obv).. because it means when we're tiring towards the end of the season, we won't have as many tough ones.

On the plus side... If we have 4 points after 2 matches we'll all be showering jitler all over the boards declaring the league done and dusted.

And Arsenal's.

However, luck of the draw. I really hope Bunny is right too.

I wouldn't like to play a promoted team first day of the season as they have a nasty habit of over-performing until Christmas when they tend to burn out.. Good opportunity to win a 6 pointer early on!

I enjoy a tough start. There are no easy games in the Premiership and to win the title you have to beat allcomers.

Get the big games early while the teams are still getting into their stride.

We've been rubbish at the start of the last 5 odd seasons because of the extensive travelling and gruelling fitness regime of the Rafa era.

Fresh start and hopefully better results!

these constant conspiracy theories are fuckin ridiculous, the fixture list is rigged against us, our CEO is secretly trying to destroy the club, no wonder people think we are paranoid. We finished 6th last year they dont need to rig the fixture list to prevent us winning the league, the idea the premier league has a vested interest in seeing us fall down the league placings is absolute horse shit, from a finance and marketing perspective the suits that run the league would much prefer liverpool in the top 4/champions league than spurs city or villa, probably even chelsea too. you have to pay everbody eventually so it just means we will have a spell of relatively easy games at some point in the calendar, besides for a team with a smaller talent pool like us its much better to meet the big teams early before the inevtible injury and suspensions build up depletes our squad

It's a shambles though. You can't deny thats surely?
It's our first home game in 7 years. We play Arsenal, while Utd and Chelsea start against promoted teams.

It's fucking ridiculous to be honest.

We really did, but the Illuminati manipulated everyone into thinking we finished 7th.

Its not necessarily a conspiracy theory. My post was fact apart from the "its a carve up" bit, which frankly is an opinion I'm entitled to hold given the fact that our first home game on the opening day of the season for 7 years is against fucking Arsenal. Of course these things hold more prevalence now we have little or no chance of winning leagues.

It's a bit shit, yeah.

Hodgson's got enough to contend with without an insanely hard opening set of fixtures. One thing's for sure: I wouldn't swap places with him at this moment.
