We have to win this. Indiscipline has cost us three players. I feel neither Sturridge nor Sterling is playing well enough as a lone striker to justify that system, and Blackburn have it worked out. So who and how should we play?

--------------------------Mignolet---------------------------

Manquillo--------Toure------Sakho------Johnson

---------------------------Allen----------------------------

Markovic---------------Hendo----------------Coutinho

-----------------Sturridge----Sterling--------------------

I think it's time to switch the formation with an eye on next season, the current set up seems to have been a short term fix due to injuries and an early season that went to pot.

Go back to 2 up front, Sturridge & Sterling/Mario (for the rest of this season anyway). Go to a back 4, get Lovern some playing time. Lucas/Allen in front of the 4. And a midfield of Henderson, Coutinho and either Lallana/Markovic. Get those 3 working in a way that they can move around the pitch along with the front 2 and we will be back to creating loads of space for the likes to Coutinho to pick passes.

It all sounds pretty easy, I might take up football management.

Yes, well as I said above, it's been obvious for a few matches now that other managers have worked out how to deal with the system - Garry Monk, Neil Lennon and Gary Bowyer, to name but three, before Van Gaal and Wenger - so we've lost the initiative. We also don't have the personnel at present to play it well enough. And Sturridge and Sterling have been atrocious up on their own. My only concern with changing it is to find a way of playing Markovic on the left, where I think he's much better.

Right you are.

I don't think it is anything Rodgers should fear. He has switched formations readily throughout his time here so he's not stubborn about it.

I'd like him to be more flexible during games. He was last season. Take Markovic, for example. Why not switch him to the left during a game? He just gets a run out on the right and then gets subbed. He had a couple of really promising games on the left and he hasn't been played there since. Puzzling.

Marko just seems like a fall guy a bit

Rodgers just doesn't seem to like him very much

I like the idea of playing Sinclair and Brannagan. Henderson and Sakho are the only other two I'm bothered to see start.

Interesting point regards the recent indiscipline and rash of red cards, again better sports psychology needed to even out aggression.

As regards the game I expect we'll attempt to match systems and work rate in this one and expect our better quality to win out.

This is one of our biggest games of the season so Rodgers has to think long & hard for his best side on this one, I'd have 2 upfront with sturridge & balotelli (if fit) with coutinho playing just behind like Gerrard used to do..

Magic did OK last time he played in a three. They won't have that dirty b@stard Gestede up front getting away with murder, which will help.

But that won't stop Blackburn heaving ball after ball into our box, and Johnson won't suddenly start being good at defending those crosses coming into the back post.

Lovren will come in for Can.

Start with Balotelli and Sturridge upfront, or Balotelli and Sterling if Sturridge still isnt up to it yet.

Mignolet
Lovren Toure Sakho
Markovic Henderson Lucas Moreno
Coutinho
Balotelli Studge/Sterling

Sorry Macca but for me the only decent game he has had was on the right against Sunderland away. He really needs to step it up from now on as does Moreno.

Obviously they'd rotate, but i'd like to see Coutinho in the middle.
