KOP TARGET: Liverpool are preparing a £18m bid for PSG midfielder Ezequiel Lavezzi [GETTY]
According to reports, the Reds are plotting an £18m bid for the 29-year-old.
The Independent claim that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign the former Napoli star this summer, and has identified him as an alternative for Loic Remy, who failed a medical ahead of his £8.5m move to Anfield.
Reports in France suggest that the Ligue 1 champions are willing to sell Lavezzi, who joined the Parisian club in 2012, in order to fund their move for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.

COMPETITION: Chelsea are also interested in signing Lavezzi [GETTY]
The club are preparing a £63m move for the want-away winger, but need to raise funds in order to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.
If Liverpool do make a move for Lavezzi, they could face competition from a Premier League rival.
Reports in France claim that Chelsea are also interested in signing the coveted winger.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the Argentina winger, and has been chasing him for the last three years.
But both clubs face an uphill task to sign the forward, as he has revealed that he would prefer a move to Italian giants Juventus this summer.

Why is it always a case of one club launching a bid for a target of another club? As if that extra line has me salivating that little bit more.

I think when (actually if) an offer comes for Lucas these news writers will have to write something along the lines of "Napoli to bid for a player, whom no other club has wanted in the last three years."

Even Aspas has takers.....even if its only on a loan.

I thought he was pretty good before he went to PSG but he must be on super wages. If anyone at the club thinks this is the marquee big signing the fans want and the club needs then theyre wrong.

David Thompson@77thomo: Hope Liverpool sign Lavezzi thought he was class in the World Cup works his socks off and his quick/direct/and skilful reminds me of Me#LFC

Made a bid according to some tabloids

I doubt this is close to NSFW really but just in case

Soz if posted elsewhere but there's an update on the BBC website:

Liverpool have made a £17.9m offer for Paris St Germain playmaker Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to reports in Spanish newspaper AS.
The French champions are apparently keen to bring in funds to finance a move for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.

That's a strange one, I don't want to believe it. Why not go back to signing Konoplyanka, if we want a LW? Cheaper and entering his prime rather than on the verge of being past it.

I've not seen That much of Lavezzi but he's always looked alright when I have.

Is he really that bad /old?

He is/was good, but:

1. 29 years old
2. Doesn't have stamina to last a full match apparently
3. Doesn't score much for a player of his talent, not a calm finisher

For £18M mooted in the papers, we can do better, I think.

First time I watched him was in the WC.
5 min after he came on I knew Argentina was not going to win the WC, not with strikers like that...

(almost wrong phew)
