Ex-Liverpool boss Benitez wanted back at Valencia by president Llorente

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is being lined up for a return to Valencia.

The Daily Mail says Benitez, who left Inter Milan in December, is being lined up for a shock return to Valencia.

Before winning the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, Benitez won two La Liga titles and the UEFA Cup in his three-year stint at the Mestalla.

Los Che president Manuel Llorente is reported to be lining up Benitez to replace current coach Unai Emery.

Emery is under huge pressure after their dismal defeat to Real Zaragoza on the weekend.

So do I.

Barcelona need to be taken down a peg or two

sarcasm?

The way that league has changed since he left, I don't think it's worth it. With the TV deals etc, no-one else can possibly compete with the big two any more. I think he'll wait for a job with City or Chelsea.

Do you really need to ask Spidey?

Hope he gets the job and knocks Barca and Real of their perch....again.

Yes, I believe he really does.

Unai Emery is a good manager.

Considering they sold off his best players in the summer I think he's done an excellent job and to sack him would be disgraceful.

the amount of respect a CL winning ex manager gets on here is a fucking disgrace. gh gets more respect for winning the fucking uefa cup.

I respect the good things he achieved for us and his good points. I also recognise the things that he fucked up and his flaws.

I don't much care what job he does now

Ha ha ha. This made me lol.
Good man Rosco.

If Valencia were to offer 20m for multiple medal winning Jamie Carragher I'd think it would be as clever a move as appointing Rafa.

A stupid idea is a stupid idea regardless of what the past is.

so bringing in a footballer who hasn't managed one day makes more sense then bringing back the most successful manager in valancia's history?

That's not what he said Spidey.

Either way, I don't see the point in kicking up a fuss about this *again*. What's the point?

makes as much sense as the torres thread being on 6CM

Might not be that bad of a move for him. He is worshiped in Valencia and this time the board will be more patient with his personality.

I cannot see him winning the La Liga but he is more than capable of winning a few cups. Once Valencia qualifies for the Champions League, he is more than capable of causing a few surprises.

Doesn't matter how patient the board are. When it starts going wrong it will all be their fault again. Like it always is. Everywhere.

I'd imagine a lot of clubs would want him. I think he'll do well there, if given the chance. Obviously expectations there will be a lot lower, so he'll hopefully get a good run at it.

I hope he gets the job, this would be a great move for him. I feel quite sad for Rafa, he seems to be having trouble getting over Liverpool, you'd hope with his problems here and at Inter he's at least come out of it with a bit more perspective about how far you can push things.

Good luck to him and that he goes back there and does really well.

Great news! Someone that will FINALLY buy Lucas once we get a replacement!

Haha. Absolutely. I hadn't thought of it like that!!

I hope he does well if he goes back. I'l never forget Istanbul.

This.

Ultimately he got a side, his side within points of wining the league.

He's won the Cl, la liga to boot, to suggest he's not up to it is a bit folly.

He's just massively stubborn and it cost him.

good luck to the man, he's also massively likable.
