Everton Fucked?

How does he think he’s going to survive relegating a team that last got relegated over 70 years ago?

Personally I’m hoping he promises to try and take them straight back up thus guaranteeing they don’t

It leaves their fans without a target for their complaints. They wanted him and the board duly appointed him. Their heads are going to explode.

If Everton avoid a FFP penalty it will be by the 'skin of their teeth' thanks to flexible Covid rules that allow them to offset losses of more than £250M... but rivals will have something to say about it, experts warn

Everton are confident they will avoid any penalty for breaching the Premier League's financial Fair Play rules after posting huge losses for three years in a row.

But football finance experts still believe it will be a close call and top flight rivals may yet challenge the Toffees and the League.

Everton posted a loss in their annual accounts to the end of June 2021 of £120.9 million. Over the last three years, total losses have amounted to £372.6M with the club reliant on owner Farhad Moshiri.

However, the Premier Leagues Profit and Sustainability rules only allow an adjusted loss of £105M in a three-year period and failure to comply would result in sanctions, which could include a points deduction.

Fundamentally, if I were at a club down at the bottom and struggling, I'd be telling the Premier League that the Blue shite have clearly failed P&S checks, and if they think they've passed by "the skin of their teeth" then they should recognise that £30m USM stadium naming rights option from the 2020 accounts for the bullshit that it so clearly is and admit they failed. Would be easier for all concerned if they'd just get themselves relegated anyway so the question of a points deduction doesn't get too heated.
Again, for context, Spurs's completed stadium doesn't have a naming rights partner, nor does our Main Stand despite us trying to find one. That Barcelona deal with Spotify looks really odd to me, but the Nou Camp is an iconic venue in world sport and there's a sense that naming the ground will give the deal longevity and allow Spotify to continue the strong association of their name with the club (via their 5-year shirt sponsorship) beyond the expiry of the shirt deal. It still looks like a 5-year deal that's just been cut differently to fudge Barca's figures over a long period.
But nobody (legitimate) pays £30m for the right to first refusal over the naming rights of a stadium that does not (and still might never) exist. And if they did, and they were then sanctioned by the UK government (as USM have been) and wouldn't therefore be able to benefit from that option in future, you've got to think they'd want their money back, no?

Quality is dreadful. Everton going all long ball and Burnley looking to use height in box via crosses set pieces

I fear Halmeister is correct. Everton are fucking dreadful but somehow Burnley are worse

Also a personal peev re gambling advertising. It is MENTAL at turf moor

Unibet, beltway, bet365, betvictor, spreadex and bet one I’ve forgotten all on the boards. The only non betting ads are from Budweiser and Astro pay

…. And the diving cunt gets a second pen

… which he scores 1-2

HT

Everton are so crap they could easily concede two in the second half. Unfortunately Burnley are so shit they will

You know what would’ve prevented that. Decent defenders and a keeper that could kick the ball.

Hahaha. Lampard getting rained on makes me happy, but then they cut to Dyche. Who could want Burnley to stay up? Oof.

Wouldn't it be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo very wonderful?

I'm pretty sure they are going down. It's definitely their year.

In fairness, if they do, it's going to be their best chance at a title tilt in decades,

More realistically a great, late run to the play offs which they convert to a trip to Wembley and WIN THE PLAYOFF FINAL - Blurays abound
