Ouch... If we finish 7th

At least we get to play for a trophy we haven't won.. This is basically the Cup winners Cup reborn

Sadly we will be the laughing stock after the European Super League debacle

Even if we win all our 5 remaining games.. We ain't getting Top 4, I don't think..

Momentum... And we don't have any.. [emoji19]

A cup is there to be won then we’ll try to win it.

We don’t deserve CL based on our season.

Also, winning the milk cup 4 years in a roll doesn’t seem to bad for Citah

The financial impact will be huge. FSG are tight as a camels arse even with CL qualification, so being out of that, and with huge losses incoming following COVID, then we are skint at a time this squad needs refreshing.

The only benefit is the reduced pressure on European games will allow us to prioritise the Premier League, and give the likes of Shaqiri, Keita, Chamberlain and Minamino games, providing they survive the summer culling.

If we win our remaining games then there's still a chance of us getting top 4 but there's little to suggest we will win our remaining games. So it's probably gonna be consolation European football or no European football next year.

One vague overly optimistic hope I suppose is that the owners are desperate to fix the damage they've caused with the fans and plough some cash in to let us rebuild.

They won't push cash into the club without champions League football..

You will see a mass sell to buy scenario again if we miss out

1 or 2 of the front 3 will be sold, with fringe players like Chamberlin, Origi and Shaqiri also being pushed out

Likely Mane will be gone.. Talks Ollie Watkins being noted as his replacement..

Who knows..

But I won't expect investment from the owners, particularly if we are in the conference League

Just thought on..
Harvey Elliot will be straight into the first team next season

That will make sense with Shaqiri and Origi on their way out

Hardly a laughing stock, everyone knows the key driver for the ESL was to protect the big clubs from missing out on the CL because of the competitive nature of the domestic league and ensure the big income every year.
Us ending up in the EL will just highlight that.

European champions 2 years ago.
Finalists the year before.
Q/f this year.
Most decorated English side in CL history with as many trophies as the rest combined.
Champions of our own league last year.
Top at Xmas this year before the worst set of injuries in the middle of Covid ruined our season.

Sure it’s shit we miss out, but laughing stock? No chance.

The financial impact will mean we will sell Mane or Salah, maybe a second name, and use the funds and wage savings to refresh the squad without a huge net spend.
