Yeah I'm not arguing with you either, sorry if it comes across that way.

I'd much rather win the premiership to be honest, but that's probably because I've never seen us win the league. (I don't know how old you are, and if you saw us in the 70s and 80s, but I assume you did?)

Either way, let's agree to disagree! I'm just surprised you as a scouser would rather England win the world cup, and to be honest I can see your point of view, I just don't agree with it. 😉

Thinking about it a little more, I think part of the reason would also be being able to rub it in the faces of others. We could rub it in the faces of the opposition, and especially Bitters and Mancs we (unfortunately) see every day and every weekend on match day. We don't really come across that many foreigners that would be wound up by England winning the World Cup (well I don't, at least) and so it kind of takes away the motivation to win it a little, for me anyway.

I suspect foreigners are relaxed at the prospect by and large because they simply don't believe it exists. If it WERE to happen, I'll bet some at least would be mightily naffed off.

I think that being the Scouse Captain of the Liverpool team that brought the League title back to Anfield for the first time in decades would mean more to Stevie than winning the World Cup.

Yes, he becomes a national icon and all that, but he's from Liverpool and has lived all his life there.

If he thought the party after Instanbul was mega, winning the Premiership would have the city taking off into orbit, even moreso than a major England success.
