Newcastle drew 1-1 with Portuguese outfit Pacos Ferreira after the Magpies drew were reduced to ten men in the first half.
Fabricio Coloccini was sent off in the 37th minute along with Pacos player Rui Caetano, and now an image has been released showing with the afro-haired Argentine received his marching orders.
The picture shows Coloccini, who has been long-rumoured with wanting to leave St James’ Park to return back to his homeland, choking the life out of 22-year-old Rui Caetano with a vicious double-handed assault.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew offered a limited defence of his captain by drawing attention to the referee’s performance in the friendly.
We are disappointed with the referee – he lost control of the game. When you let tackles go, you’re asking for trouble. It frustrates the players. In the end we had a scene which has cost us our captain.
That was the big disappointment of the night because the performance was different class. We deserved to win that game.
I thought we looked stronger than them. In terms of our top players, they put on a good performance. We were on our game.
A picture of Fabricio Coloccini’s assault can be seen below, while match highlights can be seen here.
