I want to talk about the positive from the game as I'm feeling seriously depressed.
Not one single player got past him today. He is looking like one solid, solid fullback.
Very pleased with him. You could see the difference in quality between our fullbacks.
Flanno needs more experience. He'll become a good player eventually but right now I think Kelly and Johnson are way better than him and the sooner we get one of them in the team the better.

As a side note, why oh why did Kenny not leave Downing hugging the touchline on the left? He puts in the absolute best of deliveries from that position, like he showed in te first half and against Valencia.

We were at our worst in the secOnd half but nevertheless I really think the positive was Enrique and the first half performance of Downing and Adam.

What did you lot think about him?

MOTM for me today, thought he was excellent throughout, defensively too, seems to hold position really well and is as strong as an Ox. It's early days but he was the real positive today.

He was really good today.

The big question, why is Flannagan starting ahead of Kelly!? Ridiculous.

He's going to be a fine signng for us. Top drawer prem league full-back and what i like best about him is the way he comes across to cover the CBs.

If he plays then Johnson as to play on the other side. He (Enrique) doesn't look like he is going to get towards that often.

Think those were the orders of the day because he hadn't trained with the side yet. He is very adventurous normally.

Most full backs we've signed in the past number of years have started well, hopefully Enrique doesn't end up like the rest.

think the plan for today was to get a goal and then close up.

I really hope not. Would Utd have done that?

nope but TBH i can't think of any other excuse thats justifiable for our second half performance

I think he could have overlapped more, but when we changed to 4-3-3 and downing on the right we were fucked. No balance, no width.

He was excellent, just as we knew he would be. I think the reason he held back a bit offensivly is lack of match fitness. Probably told to take it easy with the attacking runs.

Some great passing and crossing though.

Im so wrong about everything especially Enrique.
Wonder how wrong Im gonna be about Cahill.

Thats very impressive, and not the stats of an average left back. Have a feeling this could be one of the signings of the season in terms of value for money.

Hrm, this is bizarre. I watched Enrique a lot as I was sat in the corner of the ground for the second half. I thought I'd come on here and find people saying he was totally shit.

He was obviously playing within himself, as he didn't venture forward very much. His passing was good, especially long to the forwards (not that we needed more of that).

Defensively though? He stood REALLY far off his man all the time which caused problems, and I thought our left flank was targeted for a reason.

Not getting forward much is down to lack of match practice and fitness imho. He'll only get better, but it was an impressive debut. 1 training session also means he's not on sync with the rest of the back four yet aswell.

I also think he wasnt anything special yesterday, he didn't look to go forward at all, didnt overlap once and just played it long most of the time. I was hoping to see him use his pace and get to the goaline but he didn't do it once. He was good at the back and looks to have a good left foot, it was his first game after signing a day earlier and I think he will be a good signing for us but his performance yesterday was pretty ordinary.

Enrique was a beast today. That was a brilliant performance after only a day at the club. So much for the doubters. Its early days yet but he can only improve.

Kenny and Comolli must be commended on getting him for 5.5M

He was fantastic.

Model pro - signs Friday, plays a blinder on the saturday.

Infact, given that was the first competitive match our boys had played and given how different the first looked - i don't think we were that bad, we could have quite easily won the match by a few.

We didn't but im optimistic.

All the new lads looked promising, in fact.

7 of thevstarting 11 were signed in 2011. It will take a while to set the team.
