I don't get to see every game, but every game I have seen Skrtel, he's done well.

Why does he get a poor rap on these boards? Any Martin fans out there?
I am fairly ambivalent on Skrtel, he is not the worst defender we have had by a long way , and by the same margin not the best either.
There is usually at least one fuck up per game lurking in there, sometimes we get away with it sometimes it hurts us badly.
He is not very good in the air either which is a problem.

regards

I'm a big fan of skrtel. He's got mistakes in him, but he's solid when on form

Most of them should have the footnote 'Must try harder' on their end of term reports. With the exception of Dirk. No one could try harder.

True true. He would be the dumb kid who the teacher feels sorry for but gets 10/10 for effort.

Ha, many a true word spoken in jest, I think that is the key to the Lucas love-in that has been going on for the last few months (that and granted he has improved).

Once a few like Jova, Poulsen, Konchesky and Soto are shipped out with break neck speed, the try harder note wouldn't be necessary.

The players need to realise what a great club they're play for and show greater pride in the jersey.

Invisible again yesterday our player of the season...
As were most of the squad

I'm presuming you have a point?

We saw his limitations.
Without Gerrard and Meireles you would expect he took his responsabilities and the leadership role in the middle.
Complete fail.
He s simply not good enough to be a regular starter in a top 3 challenging team

Bollocks. He's as good as Fletcher or Carrick is IMO, & that side just won the league.

Cheers Vlad - he should be kept around is my sense.

Le Chacal, don't be blinded by your distaste for Lucas. He is a limited player who gets the job done.

Its ridiculous to single out Lucas amongst about 6 other players who had a stinker and he was by no means the worst player on the field.

Although I did not realise if he plays the full match on Sunday he will have played every minute of the premiership season, which is a pretty big achievement these days, the only other outfield player to match that would be Leighton Baines.

Is hard to quantify these things, but there clearly is a lot of value in having squad members that have the same mutant gene as Wolverine.
If Skrtel plays 38 games, how many games less can the more talented Agger play and still be of equal value to the team?
10 seems too much, and 2 is too little, maybe somewhere around 4-6 games.
I dont think Agger ever has played 30+ games in a season, and it seems highly unlikely that he ever will.
In the last FOUR seasons Agger has player less games than Aurelio and even worse LESS games than Kewell in his last 4 years.
Hes a fucking chalk boned twat.

It's such a shame because Agger is twice the player Skrtel is and more.

Skrtel's okay when on form but we need better. He's a massive liability when things aren't going well and he's poo in the air.
Well I think Carrick and Fletcher are better than him or at least more suited for this league
I think with Fletcher there is no argument, Carrick is close, maybe a coin flip.

Big style. He's made out of soup that cunt.

Less games than Kewell? Jesus thats a woeful injury record. I dont think there is anybody who doubts Aggers ability, a less talented player would not have been afforded the patience he has but its gotten past the point where you can reasonably expect that his injuries will clear up its simply not going to happen. The question is can we afford to keep him as a McGrath/King style, play great for 10 big games a season, role in the squad. For the wages he is paid probably not, Ive been a huge fan of him since day one but I cant see any way to justify keeping him considering he is still young enough to generate a decent sell on fee which we could use to fund a replacement.

Its a shame but i think hes played his last game in a Liverpool jersey

Fuck that keepin him.

You can NEVER keep a CB in order to rotate through injuries, cos you need continuity there more than anywhere. Having a solid CB pairing consistently is the bedrock to any successful team at any level.

Spurs keep King and he's their best player every time they roll him out!

Exactly. And who suffers most from not having a consistent CB pairing?

The keeper. Where's Spurs weak point? Keeper.

Seriously, swapping CB's week in week out is not healthy when enforced, when done by choice it's insanity.
Agger is finished with us. Kenny will already know that he cant be relied upon, and its not like hes fucking Beckenbaeur is it?

Sell.

1st choice - Carragher - Cahill
2nd choice - Carragher - Skrtel
3rd choice - Skrtel - Cahill

Then Wilson, Ayala, Kelly etc

When you put it like that fair enough, but Gomes is still awful.
