He doesn't look that great based on those stats :s that or Lucas and Allen are superstars ....

One thing both the Can and Moreno stats seem to suggest is we're no longer depending on soccermetrics only. 😀

According to BILD, Liverpool have submitted an official offer for Emre Can, with the player having already reached a verbal agreement.

He's been described a 'box to box' midfielder. Avoid avoid. He'll get the golden samba next.

[article=http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27705630]Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a deal for Germany Under-21 midfielder Emre Can.
The 20-year-old has a £10m release clause in his contract and Liverpool have indicated they are willing to meet that figure.
The deal had appeared to stall over the weekend because of the player's personal terms.
But talks are progressing more smoothly now and all parties are hopeful a deal can be concluded in the coming week.
Can, who is also eligible for Turkey, joined Leverkusen from Bayern Munich last summer in a deal worth £4m.
He impressed Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers with a series of combative performances that helped Leverkusen finish fourth in the Bundesliga and reach next season's Champions League.
The Frankfurt-born player prefers to play in central midfield but can also operate in defence.[/article]

Looks like it's going to happen. Anyone who knows who he is fancy giving me a quick run down. Is he like Lucas or Gerrard? Cheers 🙂

Looking like the first 3 players were signing this window are not players that will come in and instantly improve our first team, arguable with Moreno i suppose.

Do like the look of this signing though.

What happened to the german wunderkind we signed two seasons ago? I cant even remember his name.

Samid Yesil?
If so I'm afraid he suffered the 2nd of 2 ACL tears in January. The first kept him out for 8-9 months and this one seems just as bad

I'm still waiting for China to buy us, when's that announcement happening?

[article=ESPN]Liverpool make bid for Emre Can

Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that Liverpool have made a bid for Germany under-21 international Emre Can.

Earlier on Wednesday a source told ESPN FC that the Premier League runners-up, who are looking to bolster their squad as they prepare for a return to the Champions League, had made contact with the Bundesliga club about the 20-year-old.

Now that has been confirmed by Leverkusen chief executive Michael Schade. He told Bild: "Until Tuesday, it was a rumour. Now I can confirm that an official offer from Liverpool is received by mail.''

Can scored four goals in 39 appearances for Leverkusen last season after signing from Bayern Munich, and was managed by former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia for much of his time at the BayArena.

Bayern have a buy-back clause for the player, but German publications kicker and Bild have both reported that Leverkusen are free to sell him to a club in another country under the terms of his contract. Express and Bild both report that he has a release clause set in the region of 12 million euros.

Can has played for Germany at every youth level and first made his mark at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico three years ago, with the team's coach, Steffen Freund, lavishing praise on the Frankfurt-born midfielder.

"Emre is the most complete under-17 player I have seen in my entire career, and I have seen many," Freund said. "He has what it takes to make it to the top."

While there are still question marks over his distribution, Can has proved highly adaptable, operating at left-back as well as in holding midfield, and he drew praise for his performances as Leverkusen overcame a mid-season crisis to secure fourth place in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool have already made one signing since the season finished, bringing in striker Rickie Lambert from Southampton for an initial four million pounds.

They have also submitted a 25 million-pound offer for Southampton captain Adam Lallana and are interested in Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno.[/article]

The most amazing part is that we're apparently making transfer bids by mail.

Sascha Lewandowski: "We've accepted a bid from Liverpool for Emre Can. A strange move, to what I consider a smaller club. I thoroughly expected to keep Emre this season. Although it seems his head has been turned by money, not football. We wish Emre well in Liverpool. Although feel he may regret his move." {Bild.de} #LFC

Hahahahaha. What a bitter deluded cunt.
