Emre Can

A buy back close surley cant block a move to another club? That sounds liks bs.
Maybe to another German team but that sounds very strange.

Could be right of first refusal, where they would have right to match our offer. But, seems like the player also would have to agree and I think Can would know his opportunities to play would be limited.

If Bayern really wanted him back, they would have loaned him.

Funny, I think his technique looks quite good actually. His passing however does look quite erratic.

Agree that he'd be a project though - he's only 19 - but I think there are some interesting tools to work with. I'd certainly prefer him to Carvalho who's looked mostly awful in every clip I've seen of him.

Ha, have to agree. I don't think I've seen either player play for 90mins but in the various clips Carvalho does look a little clumsy whereas Can seems to have more technique and elegance. Plus the apparent desperation of Sporting for someone to come and give them a huge sum of money asap isn't particularly encouraging.

Nah seriously, I thought he had, but just checked and looked it up and I can't find anything to say he did. Ahh well. I seem to lose a marble a day.

Apparently, he has the same agent as Sahin and Yesil.

I wonder how heavily our dealings are influenced by agents (rather than scouts) pushing players.

That Lippett dude who was Konoplyanka's agent was the one who brokered the Gulacsi deal. I also remember us being in for this defender called Inkoom a couple of years ago - he's also represented by Lippett.

@honigstein: Very reliable @kluettermann reports that Leverkusen expect Can to go to Liverpool

Quick look at Wiki and Youtube (I know) and he looks decent. Would be great to get the view of someone who's watched him a bit, though, as you say.

How much do you think he'd go for @red_maradona, if you had to guess?

Leverkusen expect Emre Can to sign for Liverpool
May 18, 2014

Liverpool’s continued interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Emre Can is set to pay off, with Stefan Klüttermann of the Rheinischen Post reporting that the German side expect him to join Liverpool in the near future.
The versatile player, who can operate both in midfield and across the entire back line, would be an invaluable addition to a Reds squad gearing up for the heavy test of a Champions League campaign.
Brendan Rogers’ close relationship with Can’s agent has apparently aided the swift nature of this business.
He would likely be seen as a successor to Gerrard in the deep-lying playmaker role, given both his talents and his young age, and Gerrard’s relative inexperience in the role. Gerrard, however, did operate well when played there this season, so the future may be in mind when discussing Can’s role.
Having represented Germany at most youth levels, Can hopes to find his way into their national side in the near future, eschewing his Turkish ancestry. A move to the Premier League would possibly improve his chances, especially given the level Liverpool seek to operate at going forward.

The good old Rheinschen Post.

I checked a youtube video. It started repeating after 80 seconds - but I only needed 15 seconds to know that he's going to be brilliant for us.

This looks like one of those deals that's just going to be done tomorrow, somewhat out of the blue, like the Sakho one.

It's bad when this surprises you.

Looks like he could be a fantastic player given the opportunity. His build reminds me a bit of Casemiro, but with a more defensive mindset.

10M would be a bargain given how competitive the market looks to be shaping up, I hope we wrap this up quickly.

Certainly fits this criteria set mentioned by Rodgers.

[article]"You'll get some players who are specialists and who need to play in particular positions, but if we can get players in who are multi-functional, and can play in different roles and are multi-dimensional in their work, it sets us up and gives me more options as a coach."[/article]
