Emiliano Sala

A movie will probably be made about this if it turns out well

Police searching for the missing plane carrying footballer Emiliano Sala are working on the theory that he and the pilot made it on to a life raft.

The search has resumed for Cardiff City's £18m new signing after the light aircraft he was travelling on from Nantes disappeared over the Channel.

Guernsey Police said it was looking at four possibilities for the fate of the plane including that it landed on water, with Sala and the pilot making it onto a life raft that was known to be on board.

In a WhatsApp message to loved ones, Sala expressed concerns about his plane shortly before the light aircraft disappeared.

"I'm on a plane that looks like it's going to fall apart, and I'm leaving for Cardiff," Sala said in a WhatsApp audio message carried by Argentine newspaper Clarin.

"If in an hour and a half you have no news from me, I don't know if they will send people to look for me, because they will not find me, you know. I'm so scared," he added.

I hate flying, so the idea of going in some little single engined bucket is terrifying. If he was thinking like that, why in God's name did he get on the thing? I'm sure Easyjet or Ryanair had a proper plane flying from somewhere nearby.

To be fair the terrifying single engined bucket probably offered better service than Ryanair

Many people are saying if you listen to the actual audio he is very much joking and that he wasn’t serious at all. The plane had to be a piece of junk for him to make the joke though...

I’m sure it looked a little run down but he assumed all the necessary safety checks had been done.

LOL - True but if it looks like a light aircraft Piper Malibu (that apparently it was) then I certainly wouldn't have got in. It's the sort of thing you'd see sticking out from a skip! Generally meant for very small journeys between islands not fucking treacherous English Channel with fucked up weather.

Did the plane belong to Cardiff City's chairman, Mehmet Dalman?

"Listen kid, sign for us and my private plane is your's to use whenever - I'll even get my pilot to come and pick you up."

Hundred of refugees being killed weekly in the waters trying to get from A to B

Some perspective needed here I think..

I feel killed is the wrong term

Not like the water pulled out a zombie knife

I can just imagine the pilots last words. “We’re gonna have to ditch Emiliano but, on the off chance the crash doesn’t kill you outright, just think of the refugees and it’ll make the slow drowning hypothermic death simply whizz by”

I’m sure that makes what was probably a horrific death much more reassuring to all involved.
My point is Shaun..

What's the cost of a human life, should it be any different because he's a footballer? it is a horrific accident I agree.. yet their is people being killed every day in a mass humanitarian crisis trying to get from A to B that society chooses to ignore and fails to get the coverage that this gets..

Who gives a fuck they're poor.
Exactly this..

And that's sadly the world we live in

Forget the responsibility the West has to these people as it's their intervention for other means and lack of where it matters that's caused it in the first place
