Don’t know what’s worse - getting stuck in but losing every time or shying away from challenges and letting our midfield be bypassed. I sort of made allowances for the World Cup preparation for both Fabinho and Henderson, but it’s been a month since and no sign of improvement from either. Thiago, Bajcetic and even Jones and Keita offer more defensively. It's a problem.

This just goes to highlight (Thiago alone winning 11 of our 46 duels) why I made him MotM ... yet some seem to think he had an awful game ! He made the midfield tick even if a lot didn't come off because of failings not directly attributed to him. It was telling that Klopp left him on when making a whole raft of changes.

Hendo is physically spent imo... I'm not sure what he can offer on the pitch anymore.

I think the same can be said of fabinho too ...

It's clearly physical ... which means theres little chance it can be turned around imo
I'd deffo agree on Hendo - his game is based around his athleticism and if he can't get around the pitch he's ineffective. How on earth we gave him a new long contract is mindblowing. That is Klopp loyalty - despite Klopp claiming to the contrary.

Fabinho on the other hand is a different kettle of fish. He's always been the slowest in the team, his prowess isn't based on speed or athleticism and he's not old by any barometer, so (IMO) this is just a drop in form that's recoverable.

Fair point about Fabs - but he's been poor for a while now - it's almost as long as Salah it feels ...

Fabinho is coming to an end as a Liverpool player I think. Needs to move to a less physical league and we can probably get a decent fee.
We’re stuck with Hendo I guess. Maybe a bit part role next season will suit him.

Well who are the alternatives, Naby, Ox or Elliott? Unless the club goes into the transfer market, write this season off

Everyone is quicker and faster than our players these day.

The gulf in speed and class between a 2 man Caicedo and MacAllister versus our main 3 midfielders were shocking to say the least. I have already accepted us being mid-table. There is no way to turn this around without new midfielders coming in.

Milner will be back next year - in an even smaller role, but still important imo.

Hendo will take on Milner's 'larger' role of seasons gone by.

Then we need someone to 'replace' what HEndo was, what Fabinho was and what Gini was ... Bajetic will get minutes in the middle and I assume Ox and Naby will move on.

If you follow that fella on twitter it's apparent he absolutely hates Henderson.

Maybe, but I think it’s football driven, not personal. This guy finds it almost offensive how Hendo is interpreting the CM position this season - I thought he was too harsh at times, but now I’m starting to come around to his view. I thought as his running ability would wane, Hendo could reinvent himself as a deep-lying CM, using his experience and leadership as a kind of midfield general. There were a few glimpses of this in some games, but by and large he’s been a problem - avoiding tackles, not tracking runners, not holding position at the very least, negligible attacking threat.

And it’s demoralizing for a team when a senior player tasked with upholding the standards fails his own basic test.

Why do we as fans try to look for a million reasons why the team is so shit, when we all know that FSG'S handling of finances is the main reason why? In todays market £40m spend does fuck all. Most clubs would try to get two players in per window on average we get one.
The recruitment model does not fir the budget. FSG must know they're out of their depths.

Yeah, we need a new holding midfielder and an RCM and LCM. It sounds like Nunes will be the LCM and we're going for Bellingham as the RCM.
Not sure who we can target as the holding midfielder.

I reckon we unleash the badger tits full time.

Release the badger!!!!

It’s also worth keeping in mind we are going to run short of home grown players over the next few seasons so the Bellingham transfer becomes even more key

We'd have to recall him, and i'm not hugely a fan of potentially burning bridges with Blackburn

And how helpful is it to Morton's development to be thrown into this mess right now anyways? He (and we) are better off with him continuing to thrive at Blackburn and we'll see if he's ready to play a role for us next season.

Surely that’s the last season for Milly as an LFC player. Would love him to stay as a coach!

The thing about Hendo, he is a dressing room leader, but doesn’t lead by example in training - in one of the LFCTV banter videos his name came up as possibly the “laziest” trainer in the squad, someone who protects himself in training as opposed to Milly who trains as hard as he plays. So I don’t think Henderson will be able to replace Milner in that aspect; he is a great character, but not a fitness freak like Milner.

It doesn’t seem to be doing Badger tits much harm? Given they’ve played together last year a fair bit and we’re in desperate need of energy and dynamism in midfield, I wouldn’t be against recalling him at all (and have mentioned this a few times recently). He’s ben flying on loan in the centre of midfield in a combative league and would arrive back at Anfield with his confidence high.

I’d rather play Morton in midfield than Hendo or Elliott right now and if he was to come in and contribute or have a positive impact, it’d also move him forwards in his development.

On balance, given we’re not looking as if we’ll be in the market this window for much needed midfield strengthening, I’d recall him. Blackburn have done well out of us and I’m sure they’d get our need and would benefit from a favour in return down the line.

Blackburn forums, the posters are saying Morton has been really poor of late. He gets found out a lot
