Napoli director of sport Pierpaolo Marino says talks with Liverpool full-back Andrea Dossena have reached an impasse, as the two cannot agree personal terms.

Yesterday, Dossena's agent revealed Liverpool had accepted Napoli's £4.5m offer for Dossena. He then said it would only be a matter of time before he signed.

“We have taken a break in order to reflect on this. The move is therefore on hold. There are no immediate prospects,†Marino told Radio Goal.

“The President has spoken to Rafael Benitez, but there is some distance between us and the player. I wouldn't worry too much. We have to speak with Donadoni as well.â€

Dossena currently earns around £1.5m a year at Anfield and reports suggest his wage demands are the reason talks have ceased.

as a last resort we may have to bankroll his wages for a period of time so enable him to leave....

Yeah he should really sign for shit wages at Napoli cos the Liverpool fans hate him.

Andrea Dossena's move to Napoli has been held up over a wages dispute. The 27-year-old left back, who signed for Liverpool from Udinese in a £7m switch a year ago, is keen on a return to his homeland and Benitez has made it clear he will not stand in his way by agreeing a cut-price deal of £4.5m.

But Napoli's director of sport Pierpaolo Marino yesterday admitted there was deadlock over personal terms. 'We have taken a break in order to reflect on this,' said Marino. 'The move is on hold. There are no immediate prospects.

'The president has spoken to Rafael Benitez and there is some distance between us and the player. But I wouldn't worry too much.'
It is possible Spurs may hijack the deal if no agreement is reached.

Hmmm.

I remember people getting on Diao's back because he wouldn't leave the 30k a week he got off us to go to Stoke on 10k a week. If we're stupid enough to give these donkeys big money, whose fault is it when they won't leave? People must live in cloud cuckoo land.

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to move for Liverpool outcast Andrea Dossena if the Italy left-back's move to Napoli fails.

On the move: Andrea Dossena in action for Liverpool in the Far East
'The president has spoken to Rafael Benitez and there is some distance between us and the player. But I wouldn't worry too much.'
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is wary he could lack options at left-back if he loses Gareth Bale, who has been linked with a move to Italy.

Although he isn't what need, I'd swap Dossena for Bale in a heartbeat.

What?

Which league are we trying to win again?

Ha, I like him.

If we found an experienced defender with purely the Arbeloa cash I wouldn't be against the trade.

That's that, then:

Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena has announced that he wants to fight for his future at Anfield.

The Italy international has struggled since arriving on Merseyside in the summer of 2008 after boss Rafa Benitez paid £7million to Udinese.

Napoli were interested in taking Dossena back to his homeland and the left-back's agent announced that Liverpool had accepted an offer from the Serie A club.

But the move stalled due to personal terms, according to Napoli, and the 27-year-old now insists he does not want to end his Reds career.

"I've heard a lot of rumours about my future this summer but the truth is I want to remain at Liverpool," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"I'm happy with my team-mates, with my coach and with the club. I have never wanted to leave."

Bullshit.

Demoted to number 38 in the squad list, ouch.
You may not have wanted to leave, son, but your boss certainly wanted you gone.

Say what you want about dossena but he would've been more effective on the left wing on sunday than babel was.

To the tune 'Have You Seen Her' by The Chi-Lites....

Well I see his face everywhere I go
On the left, instead of Fab Aerulio
Its Dossena, Andrea Dossena, Ooooooohhhhhh........

I have less reservations at him at left wing.

Seeing him play LB has admittedly made me nearly hate the fat bastard, but he's quite quick, strong, and can put in a decent cross.

I think he's an option there.

Dossena is a figure of ridicule and rightly so, he's fucking crap. However, if it's a toss up between him and Babel for any position in the team, I'm stumped.

Heads.
