Fuck it, ive changed my mind, i want him.
32 goals in the league, his second pechichi in 4yrs, and in all probability his second european golden boot in 4yrs.
And more importantly, he keeps scoring amazing fucking goals 16 with his left, 15 with his right, and half of them unbelievable strikes.
Forlan and Torres = league title.

How was Aguero tonight? Heard he was pretty guff last week.

As for Forlan, he has been bizarrely spectacular since returning to La Liga, but putting all footballing issues to one side, he's simply not worth the money A.Madrid would demand for him.
He's the top scoring striker in europe in the last 4 years Ken. How would he not be worth whatever the fee was? Kun scored a stunner tonight.

If he failed (and he inevitably will with your seal of approval), we would never, ever live it down.

Apparantly he's Barca's number 1 target to replace eto'o, so thats that anyway.
Llorente got 2 more lovely goals tonight.

The purchase of Keane was heavily debated for many reasons, but one of them was his age and lack of resale value. Forlan is 30 and if we spend 20-25M on him, that's basically money we'll never see again. That coupled with his past record in the Premiership makes it an unacceptable risk. And again, that's before you get onto the whole where would he play business.

I have to agree with you though, he's been excellent in Spain and probably deserves a bit more credit from Premiership fans who will only remember him for his time at Utd.

why would he (or Aguero) leave? guaranteed starter for a probable CL club. he's enjoying his football there, good luck to him.

Atletico should really be looking to build and crash the top 2
Hmmm. Being as i was one of the first to be positive and excited about Torres and Mascherano (to name two high profile players who the jury was out when we bought them) while most on here ummed and aah'd and being as i have been singing the praises of Insua longer than anyone and Agger too for that matter, im guessing you could only be talking about Riera? Who ive always stuck behind, because i love chalk on their boots wingers who maintain width, so he gets a bit of leeway from me, as did Kewell before him, but ive still given him shit when hes underperformed (too often sadly) so i dont know what your on about, but its still a pretty cunty thing to say. Youre probably right with your last sentence.
I actually thought he was about 28. Yeah, hes too old.

16 year old Iker Muniain was on the bench for Athletic tonight. He's meant to be the bees knees, but I'm yet to see him actually play.

He's old
He'd cost a fortune
He failed last time he was in the prem.

No thanks

Yep.

Plus he looks like Sally Gunnell.

Can you honestly say you think he'll want to stay there over the next few years?

A.Madrid have got some good players, but they're a long way off being able to mount a sustainable challenge to Real and Barca.

I was thinking more Pennant and David Bentley and to an extent Nunez, however it was said with tongue in cheek. I would also like to mention that my signature was "Rafa sign Torres" for a year before we signed him.

they weren't getting into the CL were they? Atletico are likely to be in the CL next season and with Valencia having to sell everyone off and Villarreal losing their coach have got to be favourites to be in the top 4 (and CL) again the year later and they're guaranteed starters, playing well and in an improving team if they invest the CL cash correctly. There is no reason why they can't improve and take on the top 2 in the next few years and cement their status...

*thinks The Lying Rag's gone to Andy's head*

Too old, will cost wayyy too much & already failed once in the Premiership

that's before we contemplate the fact it'd mean repeating the mistake of last season & messing with a stable & successful formation. We need someone to stand in for Torres when needed, & give him a rest, not someone to play alongside him.

That and the fact that the prestige of A.Madrid is far less than one of the top European clubs and that he has little to no chance of winning anything there other than maybe the Copa Del Rey or the UEFA Cup.

they can win things if they keep improving and investing wisely, they have the budget, new stadium coming, they spend money, they're in the CL and can attract good players. they would have to make some pretty stupid decisions to not improve and build a team capable of more
Yeah, all wingers. Is it to much to ask that eventually ONE of our wingers turns out not to be a total fucking let Down. I'll keep sticking with them, and they for their part keep being shit.
For the record i never really sang Nunez praise, i think he was better than given credit for and at the time we should have kept him because it left us no option.

I agree entirely, john. We were great with our current set up in the latter half of the season once we had Nando and gerrard fit together. 4231 should stay, with gerrard and Nando's partnership staying untouched.

so because of gerrard/torres we shouldn't approach any top class strikers? marvelous.
