Danny Ings - Confirmed

Great signing.

I know its Ings and Milner but its nice to see the club making signings. I am sure both players had plenty of options and they chose us despite our 6-1 thrashing on the final day!

Another good signing, Ings and Milner are a solid start, but our next two signings need to be a cut above, Clyne and someone better than Benteke, if that happens, we are looking very good.

Excellent! A good signing that could end up being a great one. Even if this doesn't work out, it would take a miracle for us not to make a profit on him if we had to move him on.
I like Ings, I think he'll score a lot of goals for us if he gets the game time.

The thing is, he ideally won't get the game time as we would be hoping to sign two more strikers that are better. I don't really see this transfer being a success on the pitch. Either he won't start many games and probably won't score many as a result, or he'll play loads which means we haven't signed the first team striker we desperately need and thus are probably suffering from the same problems from this season.

Obviously I hope I'm wrong.

I hope you're right, brother.

I just worry that the next two signings won't be a cut above and another mediocre summer will ensue.

Ings is the perfect FSG signing. Potential to develop and improve, costs fuck all, young, English and even if he's a relative failure he'll bring a decent fee is sold.
I'd like to see them go all out to buy someone who's proven world class, but then who the fuck could we attract?

Profit on the player sure but overall loss if we lose out on top 4 again because our owners failed to get us a quality striker.

Suarez wins the treble with Barcelona.
Day later, we sign Danny Ings.
Jesus fucking wept.

As others have said, its all about the 'real' striker signing we make.

We suddenly pull out someone like lacazette, dont think people will be complaining with our options.

You'll all be pleasantly surprised. He's in the great tradition of under-appreciated but quietly effective Liverpool grafters like Brian Hall, Craig Johnston and Ray Houghton, always buzzing in and around the area, creating space and making chances. Not every low key signing is a sign of low ambition. He's a good acquisition.

But but ... yup, good point sir.

We need to sign big names on huge fees not shite like this. Falcao, di maria they are ace [emoji15]

I'm happy with Danny.

Smart work by the club getting this deal wrapped up before Chelsea, United, Arse or Citeh inevitably swooped for him after the window officially opens on July 1.

We're not doing the same with that mammoth of a striker Benteke ... Chelsea are tapping him up already (Hazard has talked up about playing with him) ... the Mancs are linked ...

Exactly.

Studge, Origi, Ings ... get one really good addition and I'll be happy.

I'm thinking we end up going with Sturridge, Ings, Origi........and Balotelli next season. I just get this feeling that he's gonna pull a Borini on us.
You'd like to think that we can Borini, Lambert and Aspaz out of the door one way or another.

So I really like Ings and hope he smashes it here obviously.

But it's just the whole Torres - > Suarez - > Balotelli - > Ings thing, it just doesn't sit right with me, I hope the summer brings in more as I don't think Ings alone or even with a fit Sturridge is enough.

Imagine if we didn't need these players because we hadn't bought such absolute dog shit last summer. Or if Borrini had been a good buy. Or Allen. Or we hadn't thought Ballotelli at £16 million was a risk worth taking.
I'm glad we've got both in, just wish we didn't spend every transfer window trying to rectify the last one.

Because Inggggggs, can only get bettttttttter!

[article=http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/news/article/ings-completes-anfield-switch-2484398.aspx]Burnley Football Club can confirm that Danny Ings has today agreed personal terms with Liverpool Football Club and, subject to a medical, will complete a move to Merseyside on July 1.

Burnley Football Club has rejected an offer made by Liverpool, but will continue to have dialogue with the club in order to reach a resolution over the fee.

Ings, who is out of contract this summer, made 130 appearances for the Clarets, scoring 43 goals in the process, as well as gaining international honours during his time in East Lancashire.

After overcoming an injury-ravaged start to his time at Turf Moor, Ings hit 21 Championship goals on the way to promotion in the 2013/14 season before going on to net 11 goals in his debut campaign in the Barclays Premier League.

Off the field, Ings also started the self-funded Danny Ings Disability Sports Project during his time with the club.

The project helps to deliver football coaching to disabled youngsters and those with learning disabilities across Burnley and surrounding areas and will continue to do so.

Burnley Football Club would like to thank Danny for his contributions for the football club and wish him well in his future career. [/article]
