Agger

Intelligence personified

See? We can all use selective videos

So you pick one of the technically gifted players to ever grace these shores, to show up carragher?

You and your agendas.

No wonder people hate you
Oh, believe me there's more...Zola's was just easier to find and funny as fuck.

Slightly different that one. Carragher was out muscled, as opposed to consciously not going for the ball

Every defender sometimes has a nightmare game, when an opponent constantly gets the better of him.

Agger was good on the ball, but his defending, on the occasions when he was fit to play, was too unreliable for him to be a permanent fixture.

With all due respect @Portly that's some 6CM biased bollocks. For starters we were consistently more difficult to score against with Agger in the team and recorded a lot more clean sheets with him than without him.

And nice, respectful move @Fabio to litter this thread with your Agger-bashing agenda videos.

Honest to fucking God it baffles my mind the way some people see football.

Its probably not worth debating because of individual myopia but I think its safe to say either you see or you dont see.

I cant stand that I have to stand in a camp. I really liked Agger, and but for injuries he could have been an absolute great for us, the problem was he was either injured or coming back from injury or playing with different partners.

Carragher on the other hand rarely got injured and along with Hyppia was part of our best CB pairing since the early 80's

Not nescessarily the fault of Agger, but thats an inescapable fact. And I dont really get the drive to decry a legend to score points. I think its distasteful and shows a real lack of class, leaned on by deep seated bias that is not even thinly veiled anymore.

Im glad Agger played for us. Would I take him over Carragher (or the brilliant and undervalued Henchoz)? Not in a million years.

Agger and Skrtel was the best central defender combination half a season. 15-1-0 or something like that. Then Carra replaced Agger and suddenly our defense fell apart. Agger asked why he was benched but didn't get an answer.

Its nice of you to keep trying to find an answer.
This is a lot like the Kennedy assassination.

Never let it go.
Imagine if you are the one who finally cracks this!!! Wowzers.

I think there is a reason to why Rafa didn't want to give Carra a new deal. Carra plays with a lot of heart but he can't organize a defense. He need a partner with top class game intelligence or else it won't work. Someone like Agger or Hyypiä.

As I said. Carra was a very limited central defender but excellent at defending bit. He was a bit of a shit leader on the pitch. Moaned at players when he himself made the mistake.

I could not disagree more with your Carra assessment @Arn I almost think you are 100% wrong.

He obv had his limits like Agger had his but overall he was a very very good defender that was also a spearhead in our defense for 10 years.

Am I allowed to like both Carra and Agger? Because fuck this posting videos trying to make one look shit. It doesn't make the other one look boss. It just makes the poster look shit.

You are allowed to do that of course.

Some posters just try to make players better just to have a go at another poster. Carra was better in our own half than Agger but Agger was the more complete player. He was worse than Carra in our half but much better on the ball and build up play. Agger was the better leader on the pitch.

Both of them.........Liverpool legends.

So you agree Carragher was the better defender then.
Who are you arguing with?

He wasn't spearhead of our defense for 10 years. Hyypiä was our defensive leader on the pitch for almsot a decade. Carra almost ended up figthing with teammates many times because he could't accept that he made the mistake so he blamed a teammate instead.

After Hyypiä left our defense fell apart because Carra then tried to organize the defense. It didn't work to say the least.

Carra the better defensive defender.

Agger the more complete defender.

IMO Agger was the better defender but that is my opinion.

Agger was a fantastic defender for us . Only cunts would say otherwise .

He did have a dodgy half a season under Rodgers ....buy Rodgers had the knack to make all our defenders look dodgy .

Carra couldn't organise a defence?! He's the last centre half we had that could.

Not disagreeing with what you say at all ...im in the same camp
Its only polarised because people are trying to pick who was better.

In my opinion its a stupid argument.
If we could go back 15 years and somehow be 100% certain neither would get injured and both would have Hyppia to play beside then I would probably pick Agger but given what actually transpired it isnt even debatable.

So, when did he organize a defense a full season with a good result?

The answer is that he never did that.
