Cup talk - Spurs at home

Thoughts:
Mign - too many dangerous passes. Too much of Bravo/City stupidity it seems.
Lucas - has been really good - reading the game well, cleaning everything up. Captain's performance.
K-Stew - really happy with his performance too. Cleans everything up nicely. A really solid DM.
Studge - should have had a hat trick really but cannot fault the effort and the desire to show he belongs every minute of the game. He's playing for his career here, and it shows ... but with that hunger, and the obvious talent, he may still be able to show he has a future here.

Really happy with the kids too - they all seem to be quite able to play at a very good level (though need experience to adjust to the speed of this level):
TAA - solid debut
Ovvie - technically solid player, moves on the pitch well.
Grujic - has put himself in some really good positions. Needs game time.

Sounds like a good game!

As a Liverpool fan of some years, have you not grown to love them?

Incidentally, as well as being utterly inept at defending set pieces, we are also the worst in the league at scoring from them

25 years. Two & a half decades of being utterly incompetent at taking & defending corners.

That said, the last five years or so we've been much much worse.

As for short corners, it amazes me. You spend the entire game trying to get an opportunity to chuck the ball in the box, & when you get the chance to do just that, you opt to pass it sideways where it's invariably blocked instead. Completely baffling.

It's not a great game. Pretty even really. We have the best striker on the pitch though.

I like Terence Trent Darby or whatever his name is. Looks the part

It's to confuse the opposition.

The usual ex footballer on the panel in Qatar.. Clive Allen and Craig Bellamy look like fucking Tomatoes.

My only problem with the midfield is their inablility to hold the ball. Our passing has for the most part been crap. Needs to be more calmness in midfield. I think most of it is on Stewart and Grujic.
Moreno has pulled a few good forward runs, so has A-A.
To their defence, there's a lot of players in the line up playing in unfamiliar roles.

Sounds like a good game!

If you're looking for an end to end game, or a dominating game from us, not a 'good game' ... I'm looking at the game for what it is ... 11 players who've rarely played together, stringing about some really nice moves and eager to stake their part in Klopp's first team plans.

It's two reserve teams who are fairly easily matched, with only our better striker to set us apart.

Basically exactly what it looked like it'd be when the teamsheets came out.

Boss tackle by Grujic. Great play from Sturridge to create rhe chance, were it not for the foul he'd have scored again then.
