I'm not making an icon of him, I'm just saying he's well better than Lucas.

You can be well better than Lucas without being dead good.

But, but, but he's in the Brazil squad, so he can't be that...blah, blah, blah.

We do have Coutinho to come back from injury too.

We have had goals from Moses and Gerrard, too. I agree that the other players need to contribute to the goals but at the moment most of them play too far from goal to be able to do that, and we're marginally better than bobbins at set-pieces, anyway.

Good to see that Rodgers acknowledges that we aren't playing well enough at the moment.

"We can play a lot better but we've got the mentality now that if we don't play as well as we want to, at least we can win games. That's something that's very important.

"It's a great credit to the players - their mentality to improve has been excellent. In the opening seven games, we haven't hit anywhere near the level, performance-wise, that we would want to.

"But what we've shown is that we can win games, even when we don't play at our best. Today in the first half, we got three goals and maybe could have had some more.

"We need to be better with the ball - we put the ball at risk too much. That's part of the system and with the players that we've lost; we have five players out injured and some of those are key players for us.

"It has meant a shift in the structure. Sometimes 3-5-2 is set up more for the counter-attack. Overall, we need to make improvements with the ball - it's very important for us.

"It's not enough to just win games, for me, I'm very much someone who worries about playing well. We'll take the three points but we need to improve our level with the football.

"But overall, I'm delighted with the response this season; we just go into each game looking to perform well and win, and that's what we've done."

Henderson does a better impression of Lucas than Lucas. I know it was only Palace but he was soooo much better than him in that position. I've been going on about how wank Henderson is for ages but he stood out yesterday, covered tons of space, kept it simple, allowed Gerrard to get forward. Oh, and he didn't give away millions of stupid fouls and get booked.

I'd fuck Lucas off completely and leave Henderson there.

The whole team barring Sterling and Moses played very well for the first half, but I defo think they should have a rethink on having a full roast dinner at half time. Maybe save desert til full time at least. And certainly no more brandies and cigars in the last thirty seconds before they come back out.

Does anyone want to buy the second halfs of my season ticket?

Henderson is lucas but with more goals, more going forward, and less cockups.

If you seriously want to evaluate the impact of these breaks you need to consider how they will affect our closest rivals and compare and contrast. Impossible to say if it is good or bad in vacuum.

Alot more assured there and keeping it simple while still being able to lift his head up and play it around, even spreading the play. I know it was only Palace, but he did well.

These international breaks always come at the wrong time. Let's hope there's no injuries when our players return.

I think it's come at the right time. Another couple of decent wins, positive progress, and this takes their minds off the pressure that comes with being top of the league. Hopefully they'll get used to it as it bubbles away in the background.

I dunno about you but when I was a kid it was always loads more stressful being top of the league than being anywhere else. Everyone was shitting themselves to put a foot wrong. An unbeaten run is even worse. Everyone starts getting angry at each other before every match and the final whistle comes like the end of a war. Our players won't be used to that and they need to be.

I'm actually quite surprised Palace didnt press when we had the ball in our half. The MO for playing us seems to be press whenever our keeper or defenders have the ball.

Back then we were winnning the League regularly and at a canter. Its a different pressure for us now having never won the Premiership and us being top will do nothing but motivate the lads. The only good thing is that it gives Coutinho and Johnson to get back as quickly as possible without missing out on too many games. I can settle for that because we miss Coutinho and we need him for the Arsenal away game. That is going to be crucial. We need to go to the Emrites with nothing but an away win in mind.

Soz I meant when I was playing in kids teams... It was dead stressful when you were at the top and just a laugh if you weren't. I don't know if it's applicable at this level but I reckon it's probably how it is across the board.

But yeah, having Coutinho available soon is ace. We totally need him for the emirates trip

Have to say, I had more fun at the West Brom-Arsenal game.
Crowd was more lively. Arsenal fans made the train ride there entertaining. Singing outside the ground and inside.

The Crystal palace game was probably my worst experience at Anfield. The main stand was crap and it wasn't foreigners surprisingly. I was sat next to a fat bloke who barely clapped when we scored and looked annoyed when I got excited and yelled at the ref or whatever. It's as if people just refused to sing while the away fans were pointing and taunting them. It was surreal.
Happy that we won and all that but I could mind as well have stayed at home.

They did for the first twenty and we ripped them to shreds. Then Holloway reorganised at 2-0 down.

I'd have more fun banging the dirty bitch from over the road than going through the motions with the missus but that's not how the world works.

Ha. I love this analogy.

I think because it's as true as it is simple & crude. A great mix.

Modo, might seem an odd question, but were you in Tribeca in Liverpool Friday night?

Nope left after the game. Walked all the way back to Lime street from Anfield.

Friday night, the day before the game? A Swedish guy came up to me and said he and a load of his friends were over. He was also looking for strippers and said girls in Liverpool were ugly. I liked him.

Nah I arrived the same day as the game but he seems alright. Girls in Liverpool are OK.
