Funny thing with sound. If you closer to the source then it's generally louder.

Yes I noticed that too. I've been to two games against Arsenal. First time I was close to the Arsenal fans and all I could hear was them. Next time I was at the other end of the main stand and I couldnt hear the fuckers at all. Sound really is an amazing thing

I've sat all around the ground, with the locals, with the day trippers. So it's not really.

I actually thought, while we did our usual slacking off on the 2nd half, I don't think we slacked off as much as we did in other games. We still looked dangerous in parts. And to be fair, at 3-0 up, we deserved to step off the gas a bit.

We're 7 games in, and none of us think we've had one good game yet. Every game - cup included - has seen excellent periods (at most a half), and then at most, long periods of containment of pressure (at most a half).

I'm curious to see if ...
  • Are we about to pick up our game and start playing well and dismantling teams?
  • Is this a maturing team that is learning how to win?
  • Is the Sturridge-Suarez partnership about to be one of the most deadly in premier league history?
  • Is the fact the league is in a weakened state this year our best chance since Rafa's 2nd place finish to Valencia the league?
I know a lot of people are complaining as we've been average at best. But results are all that really counts in this game, and let's hope this continues!

I've read it twice and still can't figure out what you're saying in your last point.

People coming from outside of Liverpool don't necessarily make less noise.

However in my experience most of those who make it once a season don't make that much noise, that includes the locals though.

Sad truth is its generally younger men that make the most noise, & they're priced out now. When they do go it's not in groups, like it used to be either, which doesn't help. It's much easier starting a song off with your mates than on your jack.

Well I feel secure in the knowledge that whenever I go (admittedly only once or twice a season) I sing my fucking arse off! Never had the balls to start a song though....Yet!

Bring Absinth into your life. You can then start , carry and finish a chant on your own, coz no cunt can understand you. You can have the added bonus of the wife fucking off from your side declaring she will be waiting back at the hotel if you make it. BOOM!

i think sterling playing at wb will do him a world of good and improve him as a player.

sturridge, at this rate, is on course to be the greatest striker in our history. hope he succeeds.

Not first on Match Of The Day again despite going top. No, they opt for a mid table/bottom of the table clash. Jug eared cunt.

  • For me the second half wasn't all that bad, even with conceding and letting up a bit.
  • Gerrard again was pretty meh, making me think maybe a Lucas Hendo pairing could work quite well.
  • Sterling was a bit poor at times, but I'd like to see him more extensively in that wingback role. Did enough for me
  • Hendo had a solid outing, I think he could be a poor man's Marchisio if he can hold down one of the two deeper midfield slots. He has the most important bit, the engine
  • Back line good again, but Skrtel seemed a bit less dominant. I could see him losing his spot in a few weeks if things don't pick up
  • Sakho/Toure both complete monsters in the air, enjoying watching them go up for balls in the air
  • Enrique was a bit of an enigma today, but we all know we have to take the good with the bad when it comes to him. Would like to see how Aly does in that role, but at the moment it doesn't look like we have any long term solutions on the left, specifically a wingback type.
  • Mignolet didn't have a ton to do, but I think there was a deflected shot he had to deal with, and did so well. Whiffed at a ball going across the goalmouth, which raises some eyebrows, but no major complaints
  • Moses seems to be more of a cog than anything else for us, and considering for how long we've lacked consistent attackers, that's a welcome sign. Beyond that, seen some flashes over the last few matches, but I'd like to see how he does when he's up to fitness
  • Sturridge/Suarez didn't do a whole lot more outside of converting their opportunities, but I'll absolutely take it every time. Some clever interchange play and possession around the box, as well as the creation of more than enough chances. We're definitely getting enough from the attack
  • Poor Iago, another rough outing even though he was only on the pitch for a few minutes. Hopefully he can nick a goal in one of our matches and get some confidence(and support)
  • LAR actually looked quite decent in his outing, he played a clever pass to Suarez towards the end of the match when Sturridge hit the post, and was looking for the return ball in a good shooting area. Looking forward to seeing more of him
  • Agger got the job done, not much else to say. Might slot in ahead of Skrtel now
  • Interesting to see Ilori on the bench, I suspect BR had him as a failsafe in the scenario that Raheem was getting reamed. Would like to see him get an opportunity, but first team slots are very competitive as it stands.
  • Intrigued to see how long we can go before hitting a severe drop in form. I think we're putting enough points "in the bank" in the early stages to have a competitive chance at top four, but it all remains to be seen. If we can stay close to the top come the January window, I can see us reeling in some very talented players to fill what few gaps we have

Whiry's post above is mostly spot on.

Ming : 6.5
Enrique : 6
Sakho : 7.5 (monster ! I'm loving that we now have 2 CB's that can dominate in the air)
Skrtel : 6
Toure : 7 (see Sakho)
Sterling : 5.5
Henderson : 7.5 ( one of his best performances for a while. This is his position not at RM).
Gerrard : 6.5
Moses : 7 ( I don't see how many fail to see how he connects midfield and attack).
Suarez : 8 ( not a lazy bugger)
Sturridge : 7 ( can be a lazy bugger)

Rodgers : 8 for going with such an attacking team and a 10 if he really is banging that bit of totty.

Very happy with the result, obviously.

Henderson did well - again, I want to see him there rather than further forward or out wide - it's better for him.

I do worry about being too reliant on Sturridge & Suarez for all the goals and creativity - someone else needs to chip insurgents a few - every bangs on about Man Utd only having Van Persie & Rooney, but Hernandez chips in with a few & they have better creative players whereas we're relying on Suarez & Sturidge for everything.

I'm not a fan of Enrique, nor am I a fan of 3 at the back.

Moses is proving that central playmaker is not his best. He's not a terrible player, but he isn't good enough to be anything other than a temporary stand in. Sterling tried - but he's no wing back.

What's up with Gerrard - he scores a penalty to put us 3-0 up and celebrates like a man who has just discovered someone has taken a dump in his heated indoor pool and he's had to fish it out with his silver played barbecue tongs.

I fucking hate how international weekends always rear their head as soon as we look like stringing a few results together.

Why do we go to sleep in the second half- it really is worrying - has to a massive concern because a half-decent team would have punished us.

Did Budgie get the right seats this time?

I think I get what you want to say, although point four may need revising 😉 I think the "weakened league" argument is being used because English teams are generally being done one in the Champions League, just as it was last season. It holds no water for me.

I'll take ordinary performances and great results any day. Last season after 7 matches we only had 6 points. This season we have the head-scratchers at full flow. It took Gerrard until after the last round of international matches to reach match sharpness but during that period he was defensive liability. He will probably hit form after the forthcoming internationals but this time, the odd walk-about notwithstanding, has not so been very costly. That tells me that the team as a whole has evolved and is maturing. Up front, we have Sturridge and Moses, in addition. Last year we had Downing and a couple of sprogs ... Henderson is a better player while the competition for places has done wonders to Skrtel. Or and Touré , what a free transfer! The best in the league since well, I can't remember whom.

Henderson does a better impression of Lucas than Lucas. I know it was only Palace but he was soooo much better than him in that position. I've been going on about how wank Henderson is for ages but he stood out yesterday, covered tons of space, kept it simple, allowed Gerrard to get forward. Oh, and he didn't give away millions of stupid fouls and get booked.

I'd fuck Lucas off completely and leave Henderson there.

The whole team barring Sterling and Moses played very well for the first half, but I defo think they should have a rethink on having a full roast dinner at half time. Maybe save desert til full time at least. And certainly no more brandies and cigars in the last thirty seconds before they come back out.

Does anyone want to buy the second halfs of my season ticket?

We do have Coutinho to come back from injury too.

That's a more important consideration than you imply really.

Henderson did great yesterday but I can well imagine that Lucas would have had an easy time of it too, roast dinner or not. Let's see Henderson up against a proper midfield over a run of games before we start making icons of him.

At least he looks like a proper alternative worth exploring.
