I think there are two promising reasons for taking him on this season in particular. One is the fact he's been reminded that the grass isn't greener on the other side and playing more often in lesser games certainly didn't impress Capello; the second is that it's world cup year and he'll be desperate to get back to where he was at his best with us.

I liked Crouch

But it's for that reason I hope he doesn't come back.

Me too

Me three

Exactly so, in the same way as he refers to "here" when talking about the King being back at LFC. Heartwarming stuff.

Absolutely no chance.

We've finally found a way of incisive, quick movement going forward. We could do without him shimmy'ing the ball back to the halfway line everytime he gets it.

Crouch is a good footballer, but he's not for us. He'll go to Spurs.

Yep.

Redknapp was just saying he couldn't afford him given his age, the fee and the wages.
Harry Redknapp?

The bastion of truth, honesty, and value? That Harry Redknapp?

Right.

Listen to the interview, he's obviously gone to Daniel whatever and asked for crouch. Daniel has given him a Return on Investment spreadsheet to fill in haha.

Bump.

I think it spells the end for Bent and possibly Pavlyuchenko

Keane will be fine

Bent would be a reasonably good signing for us at the right price.

I agree he would have been, but it looks like there's a deal going down with Sunderland which will offer him regular first team football (and possibly at a higher price than we'd have been prepared to pay).

what does Crouch signing mean for Keane?
He's their captain so he'll be fine. The Crouch-Defoe partnership with Harry as a manager worked very well at Portsmouth though, I wonder what will their regular lineup look like.

Yeah, I've said many times Bent's the ideal understudy for Fernando Torres if we are going to continue the 4-2-3-1 system - but he'll be going over the £12M I'd be prepared to pay, and we should be preoccupied with Xabi's replacement (if he is actually going)
