Liverpool might soon have to replace Philippe Coutinho. Could Riyad Mahrez be a potential replacement?
Philippe Coutinho's absence from the Liverpool starting line-up yesterday added to the mystery over where his future may lie beyond this month.
The Brazilian has been strongly linked with a transfer to Barcelona, who still have money to spend after selling Neymar in the summer to PSG.
Letting Coutinho go would be a big blow to
the Reds and leave them with a big hole in their side to fill.
One potential candidate who fans are keen to see arrive is
Leicester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez.
Mahrez delivered an inspired display yesterday as
the Foxes beat Huddersfield, with the Algerian setting up both goals.
The attacker is also free to play in the Champions League as Leicester have had no European involvement this season.
Mahrez led Leicester to a shock title win in 2015/16 and was voted as Footballer of the Year.
The Mail reported in the summer that Leicester wanted as much as £50 million for Mahrez, a fee which scared off Arsenal.
This season the 26-year-old has scored seven
Premier League goals and provided eight assists.
Liverpool fans took to Twitter yesterday to rave about his display, and tout him as an ideal replacement for Coutinho...
