Coutinho gone. 142m

I think I had a dream (or a vivid day dream) about next season with Coutinho staying and Keita & Goretska being added to the squad. It was incredible. I really really want him to stay.

I love the fact Zico has come out and said he should stay. I think the Kop needs a song about this...

oooh coutinhoooo
zico said, don't goooooo

we want to see you playyyyyy
every sat-ur-dayyyyyyyy

someone else can do the rest.

Come on mate.... fill in the rest. Can't wait to see were this end!!

Zico is 100% right with his comments - I think the issue is not all 100% Barca turning his head - but more so their players with shitty quotes and personal calls to Coutinho. Fucking joke why FIFA/UEFA don't do something about this sort of secondary tapping up shit. I also have a dream - and it goes like this:-

we come up against Barca in the CL and we beat them home and away - and then Coutinho turns to Messi and co at the end and says "thanks for the offer guys but I think I'll stay where I am".

I have a strong feeling we will sell him in January - cannot see him staying. What bothers me now is that if he stays - he has built a relationship with Salah, and Mane to some extent - and give a season and I can see him trying to tap up Salah, and Mane, in the future on Barca's behalf. We have seen Suarez go all out to try and get him to sign - can see the same happening when he goes over there and Barca want Salah next season.

The smoke hasn’t disappeared. The story wil run through January, looking likely
This Nike thing deserves a statement from our club. If Barca are doing this then the footballing authorities need to put a statement out.

Now that would be shortsighted. Imagine if Southampton had taken that view. Treat each case on its own merit. In this case, because of all the tactics, I actually think Barcelona knows it's got no chance.

Liverpool will demand an astronomical fee for Philippe Coutinho before they consider the sale of the Brazilian to Barcelona after the Spanish side’s shirt manufacturers were guilty of an extraordinary marketing blunder.
Barcelona’s presumption they will sign the playmaker in this transfer window was taken to extreme levels when Nike – who not only provide the club’s kits but have their own sponsorship deal with Coutinho - announced his imminent arrival at the Nou Camp.
They displayed an advert on their official online store on Saturday evening urging fans to purchase their Coutinho jersey for the remainder of this campaign.
It read: "Philippe Coutinho is ready to light up Camp Nou. Get your 2017/8 FC Barcelona kit with the Magician's name on it. Act fast - free personalisation only available until January 6."

The Nike website suggests Philippe Coutinho is to move from Liverpool to Barcelona
The promotion – linked via Barcelona’s own website – was removed within an hour. Despite the advertisement, it was not possible to buy the jersey.
Despite requests for a statement, Nike offered no comment or explanation for the gaffe. The arrogance surrounding the advert fuelled the sense of intrigue.
Liverpool rejected three Barcelona bids for Coutinho last summer, the last of £115 million. The initial payment was just £86 million, woefully short of what it would take for the Merseyside club to even consider selling their star player.
Having taken a tough stance in the summer, manager Jurgen Klopp has been more reticent about making any statement on the player’s future recently. Liverpool’s hardline six months ago coincided with the player declaring himself unfit with a bad back.

Since his return, Coutinho has been one of the Premier League’s stand-out performers. However, he is still keen to leave. Coutinho is prepared to give up his immediate Champions League ambitions to secure his move and talks have been ongoing between the club and his representative during the course of the season.
It is possible he will not start his club’s New Year’s Day fixture at Burnley, but that is as much a consequence of Klopp’s rotation policy with two games in 48 hours.
The Liverpool manager has always intended to make wholesale changes for the trip to Turf Moor.

I think a deal has already been done and Nike had been informed. Very poor from FSG if true. Selling him now is just stupid.

There's normally loads more news on the grapevine if a deal has been done. This looks like a fuck up to me. Not that I know what I'm on about.

The only mugs are in Barcelona and in the newspaper offices which keep churning out the same story without any shame.

I don't know what constitutes "tapping a player" up, but using Suarez and leaking information (even fake news) to media outlets surely comes close? If PSG were interested we could have had a bidding war.

Mahrez again proving why is the most suitable candidate to replace Coutinho.

I think (and hope) you're right - a transfer of this magnitude would not be done so quietly, plus it would be extremely stupid to sell our best player mid-season. Probably more underhanded/desperate tactics from Barcelona to keep this story alive.
