Please by all means merge it.

With an impressive display last night talk immediately turns to Barca and a £130m transfer. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...ho-has-opened-door-leaving-liverpool-january/

It's clear he is going, with Kieta coming next season, do we buy a replacement in Jan or hold off till summer
If the replacement player is available in January then get the business done so he acclimatise and hit the ground running by next season. Plan for success

Do we really want to give the captaincy to someone that apparently cried 6 months ago because he couldn't leave and struggles to crack a smile when he scores?

If it worked great but we'd look a bit silly doing it only to have him force his way out the door in the summer.
I meant put it on the table if he's staying as in "we want to make you the leader of this team, pay you 250k a week and make your career here winning titles",not make him captain now-even though we can see what he would be like because he is regularly captain at the mo.

Yep. This. And if he signs and stays and Henderson either moves on or scarcely sees action starting next year, I wouldn't be against making him captain either. But not immediately and not until he commits to at least the medium term.

Agree totally - lets give the guy the team lead. It's kind of romantic - a Brazilian captain leading Liverpool. Honestly - I don't know which other game it was but he was made captain in another game when Hendo was injured and his performance was like yesterdays. Maybe he secretly wants it and a bigger pay packet.

Also agree with the point made by @RolandG - if the plan is to let him go next season and the player we want is already available then why prolong this any longer ? - sell and get the replacement so he is ready to go for next season.

I honestly think the only reason he's still performing so well is because he's worried Barca will look elsewhere if his form drops off.

Possibly. But more likely it's because it's a world cup year and knows he has to be playing regularly to make the squad. Either way who gives a Fuck as long as he's delivering. We know he's gone but as long as he's playing well to the very end I won't have a problem with him.

Regarding his form, one thing is for certain, he ain't doing it for us!

Whether for Barca or Brazil .... or even for himself, I don't care. Just as long as it lasts

He's Brazil's best player I think he'd be going to the WC regardless but ya I don't care as long as it continues.

We have a real chance in the CL

I don't think a captain's armband, virtually worthless in today's game, is going to be any sort of incentive. Besides which the lure of Barca (club, money, trophies, city, language, food, lifestyle and his family's preference) for a Brazilian must be huge, if I was Coutinho I'd want to move there too.

I just hope we can win the CL and finish 2nd this season whilst he's still here.

We'd be idiots to spend as much as we have of late and to then actively look to sell Coutinho. It's one step forward and two steps back. We're trying to shake off this underachievers tag, this habit of building slowly but well, only to then lose vital players and to have to start from scratch. We've got to keep showing the kind of resilience we have shown.

Let's wait and see. Coutinho may well have a change of mind and heart. He is certainly getting the business done. This team has the potential to win silverware. With Keita coming in the Summer, we need a worldclass keeper and as many suggest a DM. Get the quality in and the balance right, silverware will follow.

If Coutinho goes in Jan I don't think we'll look at replacing until the summer. Lallana/Ox will get more time and Salah/Mane/Firmino will get less rotation in my view. Maybe even Ings will see more time, and at a stretch one of the younger wingers like Wilson. He has shown this month why we will miss him - incredible amounts of end product and his connection with Firmino is brilliant. Part of me wants to think that he'll be convinced to stay on - but with City the way they are, he might not see any future domestic success on the horizon by sticking around.

I don't see any way in hell that Coutinho will leave in January. Klopp simply would not permit it with us fighting for both the CL and Top 4. I'd be surprised if Coutinho would push for a January move that would rule him out of the CL too (though there would be the compensation of a La Liga title).

Or he is just a professional. Didn't Barça claim that it would look elsewhere if he didn't force his move in the summer? Or was just over the tried and tested method?

Talk of Barcelona going for Di Maria to add to the previous rumours of Griezman and Dybala. Be nice to see them spend big elsewhere.

It would be ideal for us, I think, if Barca get Griezmann and Real sign Alexis, thus keeping those 2 world-class attackers out of reach of United and City respectively and also ending the pursuit of Coutinho.

One of them could do us a favor and take Eriksson and/or Alli too.

On current form Alli can stay at Spurs as long as he likes. And when Coutinho eventually leaves (2-3 years from now), I want Eriksen as a replacement, if not for any other reason than to make @Kay Age El deliriously happy.

For some reason I don't want any direct rivals star to come here. He could have joined earlier but chose fucking Spurs. I wish him nothing good and least of all late life mineyspree from us.

I think I had a dream (or a vivid day dream) about next season with Coutinho staying and Keita & Goretska being added to the squad. It was incredible. I really really want him to stay.

I love the fact Zico has come out and said he should stay. I think the Kop needs a song about this...

oooh coutinhoooo
zico said, don't goooooo

we want to see you playyyyyy
every sat-ur-dayyyyyyyy

someone else can do the rest.

Ronaldo, the original and best has also come out and advised he doesn't go Barca as they don't treat Brazilians very well citing himself, Neymar, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho as examples

As if anybody can add to this masterpiece.

I think it can be fitted in to the tune from Celtic that we tried to make work for Oxlade. Another line coming in hot....

He's gone in the summer. Anything sooner we could not agree to. Of course he's leaving though. if you were a Liverpool fan playing for Athletico or Sevilla in La Liga, would you stay there for another year if Liverpool came calling? Of course not.

Greaseman plays for A.Madrid, and he hasn't kicked up a fuss wanting to leave
