So it's 15 x what 18 maybe?

That's 240

Close enough..

If G&H arent the ones who can stop a transfer, then why in the world of all thats good and holy would RBS/the board sell our best players?
The value and potential would be shot. Doesnt make sense.

i've lost a large amount of interest in football this season. i'm genuinly bored of it. i won't be watching another europa cup run next season, for certain, and i can see myself missing most of our league games unless something drastically positive happens in the summer.

Would it ?

A company's value is based mainly on it's revenues. We've locked up sponsorship and TV deals for the future, if selling some players has a miminal effect on the attendances then by selling the players we're increasing revenue and decreasing costs. Admittedly at the expense of the footballing side of things, but I don't think anyone buying us really gives a shit about that.

Well, that would be a short-term view of it I guess, as long as there are no clauses regarding CL football and what not. I wonder what the long-term view would be.

Our brand would be seriously damaged with no star players and no CL football and we won't be signing record deals in the future. What's more, it's questionable as to whether we'll be filling a 70k stadium languishing in midtable.

Just got a txt.

Rafa's resignation imminent. Meeting with Broughton postponed in respect of season not ended yet. Announcement soon. Torres and Gerrard's likely departure a huge factor in Rafa's resignation.

Not sure how reliable it is, but just thought I'd share. According to him, there will be a press conference announcement sometime this week. Again, probably bollocks.

Should be an exciting summer then.

I don't wanna miss a thing.
I think this could be the first summer in quite a while where we don't expect (or get) ANY good news at all.

Other than Benitez going. And being replaced by fucking Roy Hodgson. And Lucas being "loyal to the club".

The teamsheet posted earlier in the thread is simply too horrible (and possible) to contemplate.
I'm happy to do a weekly thread (ramfull of tactical insights, trends, and thrilling contribution) on the progress of my exploits with the local football team throughout the summer if you think that'd help provide some much needed optimisim and cheer? Well?

Seriouly though, thanks for this Bren. If anything, I'm now prepared for the worst. If all of that happens - which isn't impossible at all - then it happens, and we go through the fucking shit. On a positive note though, if all of that doesn't happen, then it'll be a good summer cos I've already prepared myself for the worst! Excellent.

Heh, the only way is up. :🙂

Big change can be a wonderful thing.

The summer is going to be very hard... but, i bet you we are all as excited as little children on christmas eve before our first game.

a complete different squad will certainly make things more interesting..

There are rumours on other sites that Torres definetly is staying, so this is all very confusing and headwrecking.

It's going to be a very long summer alright. I just hope nothing happens before the WC, so that we at least have 2 months to see some movement on the owner front.

But, I gave this a lot of thought yesterday. And if the players concerned want to leave, then fine. Leave. The club will live on, and if it means a whole lot of changes and years of doom and gloom, we'll be back.

If Fernando decides to walk, I'll be extremely disapointed. Not only because he's only played 60 % of the games this year. But also because he hasn't given it one more try.

Time will tell I guess.

All his gushing 'i love this club/city' quotes will sound pretty fucking hollow if he does
leave. I'd be shocked and saddened if he were to leave.

It would be a good time for him to come out and say something soon, but I guess some of the players want some more clarity in the manager/owners situation first.

so its not possible to love the club/city but want to move on because you are being undermined by broken promises? rafa is selling players and some of the money from those sales is being siphoned off to service a debt that shouldn't be there in the first place. the squad gets weaker season on season with next to nothing the manager can do about it. why the fuck should he stick around to see how it all plays out, love or the city or no love of the city. the same goes for torres etc.

The thing is, the financial situation gives the players a bit of a cop out. It's easy to lay blame with the club.

Hmmm. Still, it's tripled at least.

You know what, it wouldn't be the money that would be the issue if I was a season ticket holder

It's the *time*, that personal four hours out of your weekend or weeknight committment (sp?) That would really grate
Well yeh it's not so much the money for your tickets. Like you say it's time. Having to rearrange work commitments if possible. Some games I drive back and forth from my caravan in Wales which is about a 3 hour round trip. Plus there's your money for ale and stuff which effectively doubles what you spend a ticket a year. Plus it was fucking FREEZING this year. Brass monkeys. And Spurs have just scored. Nice one.

You lucky sod! You've got a season ticket AND a caravan in Wales.

Sunny's bitching about the cost of his season ticket is interesting

I gave mine up in maybe 92 ish, and although I never paid for it (Cheers Bluenose Dad!) I'm pretty sure it was only about 140 quid

Does that sound right? Big old jump to 700 or whatever it is these days.

Or maybe not, inflation and that.
That must have been for the lad part of a dad and lad Bren.

It would have been around £350 then I think.

Remember this chaps, it is always Darkest before the dawn.
I still remain upbeat that there is loads going on that even clever journalists don't know.
It has to be said that since the Yanks took over, apart from them blurting what they want knowing to the papers, insider news out of Anfield has been a big problem, look at what Bascombe has to resort to now his inside moles have gone. (that sounds like a medical condition). Look at all these internet moles, the players get to know fuck all these days either.

I agree with what someone said earlier. Broughton is no mug and is hardly likely to sully his reputation on a part time, but high profile, role where he is seen to preside over the melt down of a British/European institution.

I remain convinced stuff is going on behind the scenes that is positive.
I can't see RBS or the Yanks letting the club drive itself into the ground either as it is in their interests to keep up it's profile and value.

I think Benitez is on his way as he is not wanted, either by this crew or any potential incoming people and they are helping him make his decision by not giving him any money to spend. They may also want to remind him about his "guarantee" they he failed spectacularly on, that should be enough justification to sack anyone without recourse to compensation.

I don't have any inside information, it's just the way I see things.

*hitches a ride on Vlad's jeep*
Room for one more?

its basically going to take someone to save us to prevent us doing a 'leeds'. the loan repayments are too high for us to service outside the CL so we'll have to pay the loan via player sales which will weaken us which will make us less likely to make the CL. the stadium even if started now is years off so we wouldn't see the benefit for ages. we sell or we're fucked, unfortunately H&G wont drop their price

David Villa and David Silva stayed at Valencia when the club were going through a 'financial meltdown'. There may be hope.
