Could Vieira be the new McCallister?

So he will be free after this season. Obviously he would prefer Arsenal but maybe worth a cheeky shout especially if we lose Masher and have no fucking money.

Could fill a spot for one season or two.

Anyone?

No IMHO. Vieira has looked a shadow of his former self for some time. Gary Mac came to us still very fit, very dynamic with plenty of guile. We'd be better off with Hamman than Vieira.

I agree. Although McAllister was a surprise signing for us at the time he was still regarded as having plenty left to offer for someone. He was still playing well for Coventry the season before.

Vieira might have something left to offer but his performances don't suggest he would still be able to do much in England

It's worth remembering that Gary Mac had a bit of an Indian Summer the season before he joined us, which contributed to him attracting interest.

Fans would probably have been more dumbfounded by him being linked had it been a couple of seasons earlier.

Vieira has looked finished, but who knows, he can't be worse than some of the options out there, when we have to consider the price too.

no. macca brought the best set piece delivery I've seen in years. even if macca's legs were gone (they hadn't he was very fit) he would have contributed. if paddy's legs have gone I don't see what he adds.

If Gary Mac had spent the majority of his career with us instead of Leeds, it wouldn't be almost twenty years since we won the League. Great player, great lad.

As someone has already mentioned, I'd rather have Hamann back than add Viera to the ranks.

No way. Viera is finished. Plus, I cant imagine him ever having the inspirational charisma that Gary Mac brought
