Confirmed Summer Transfers (2013/14)

Dennis Aogo - Schalke (loan with option to buy)

orig.JPG

[article]Schalke are to sign Germany left back Dennis Aogo on loan from Bundesliga rivals SV Hamburg, pending a medical, Schalke general manager Horst Heldt confirmed on Wednesday.

Aogo, 26, joins Schalke on loan for the season and Schalke then have an option to complete a full transfer. Aogo was to undergo the mandatory medical later Wednesday.

"We are delighted that it worked out with Dennis. He can play left back and will train with the team for the first time tomorrow (Thursday)," Heldt said, confirming a report from the Bild paper.

The 12-times capped Aogo is no longer first-choice in Hamburg, and not having to come up with his salary of reportedly 3 million euros (4 million dollars) will allow the cash-strapped club to get a forward before the transfer period ends on Monday.

Hamburg and Schalke have had a poor start into the league season, placed 15th and 16th with one point each from three games. Schalke qualified on Tuesday for the Champions League group stage.[/article]

Willian - Chelsea (£32 million)

[article=http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3440090/title/willian-transfer-completed]Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Willian.

The 25-year-old Brazilian was today (Wednesday) granted a work permit and has signed a five-year contract, having moved to England from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala. He will wear the number 22 shirt.

On completing his move, Willian said: 'I'm very happy to be here, it's been a dream of mine to come and play here.

'Chelsea are one of the best clubs in the world, and now I'm going to play for one of the best managers in the world, so I'm very happy and looking forward to it.'

Born on 9 August 1988, in Ribeirao Pires, Willian Borges da Silva played at Sao Paulo before moving to Corinthians at the age of nine.

Having made his way through the Brazilian club's academy, Willian rose to prominence in 2005 at the prestigious Copa Sao Paulo de Futebol Junior tournament, which he won with Corinthians before being promoted to the first team shortly after.

Having impressed potential suitors with his performances, Willian's stock continued to rise, culminating in a move to Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in August 2007.

Possessing trademark Brazilian skills, and with the guile and creativity to unlock tight defences, during his time at Shakhtar Willian won four league titles, three Ukrainian Cups, three Ukrainian Super Cups and, most memorably, the 2009 UEFA Cup, which was clinched with a 2-1 over Werder Bremen.

Chelsea supporters will be familiar with the player after he scored twice at Stamford Bridge when we beat Shakhtar 3-2 in the group stages of last season's Champions League. He also impressed during our 2-1 defeat in the away game.

Willian spent six years at Shakhtar before completing a switch to Anzhi last January.

He made his debut for the club during a 3-1 Europa League win over Hannover and scored his first goal in a 3-0 victory at VN Novgorod.

On the international stage, Willian has been involved with the Brazilian national side at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-20 level, and featured in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2007, when Brazil were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Spain.

He made his Brazil senior debut on 10 November 2011 in a friendly match against Gabon and has two caps. He becomes the sixth current Chelsea player from that country.[/article]

Samuel Eto'o - Chelsea

0,,10268~12183422,00.jpg

[article=http://www.chelseafc.com/chelsea-article/article/3441538]Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Samuel Eto'o from Anzhi Makhachkala.

The 32-year-old has signed a one-year contract and on finalising the transfer he said: 'I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible.

'It wasn't a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it.'

A prolific striker who has scored goals at the highest level throughout his career, Eto'o learned his trade in his native Cameroon before joining the Real Madrid youth academy in 1997. He then embarked on loan spells with Leganes, Espanyol and Real Mallorca.

His time at Mallorca proved a pivotal period in his early career, as a string of impressive displays earned Eto'o a permanent move to the club in 2000. The highlight there came when he scored twice to help his side to a 3-0 win over Recreativo in the 2003 Copa del Rey final.

Having caught the eye with his predatory instincts in front of goal as well as helping Mallorca secure qualification to the Champions League for the first time in their history, some of Europe's biggest clubs unsurprisingly began to show an interest in acquiring his services, and after becoming Mallorca's all-time leading league goalscorer, he completed a move to Barcelona in 2004.

Eto'o made his debut away at Racing Santander on the opening day of the 2004/05 season and scored the second goal in a 2-0 win, before netting four times in the space of two matches shortly after.

His impact was so significant that by the end of October he had already scored eight league goals, a run of form which would continue throughout the campaign as Frank Rijkaard's side clinched the La Liga title.

During that season he also scored the winner for Barcelona as Chelsea were beaten 2-1 in the Camp Nou in the Champions League, although it was the Blues who would progress courtesy of a 4-2 second-leg victory at Stamford Bridge.

Eto'o went from strength to strength during the following season, once again playing a pivotal role as Barcelona retained the domestic title. He also finished the campaign as top scorer in La Liga with 26 goals, narrowly edging out David Villa.Even better was to come in the Champions League, as Barcelona overcame Arsenal 2-1 in Paris to lift the trophy. In what was an eventful final for Eto'o, he was brought down early in the game by Gunners' goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, who was subsequently shown a red card. With his side trailing 1-0, Eto'o then scored the equaliser 14 minutes from time before an extra-time winner by future Blue Juliano Belletti secured the trophy for the Spanish side.

After a brilliant season, Eto'o came third in the FIFA World Player of the Year award voting, with club team-mate Ronaldinho winning the prize and Frank Lampard finishing as runner-up.

His goals-to-games ratio remained impressive for the next two seasons at Barcelona, and he ended his time at the club in spectacular fashion, scoring the opening goal as Barcelona beat Manchester United 2-0 in Rome to win another Champions League, completing the treble in the process. His five-year spell at the Camp Nou had yielded a remarkable 152 goals in 232 appearances.

In the summer of 2009, Eto'o swapped Spain for Italy, making the switch from Barcelona to Inter Milan in a deal which saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic move in the opposite direction.

Under the guidance of Mourinho, who was Inter manager at the time, Eto'o enjoyed a fruitful first season at the San Siro, scoring on his Serie A debut from the penalty spot in a 1-1 draw against Bari and going on to enjoy a productive time in front of goal.

He was also on target with the only goal of the game when Inter won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in the knockout stages of the Champions League, sealing a 3-1 aggregate victory for the Italian side on their way to lifting the trophy courtesy of a 2-0 win against Bayern Munich in the final.

Eto'o completed the full 90 minutes in the showpiece fixture and picked up a winners' medal in the competition for the third time in his career, while also achieving the unique feat of winning the treble in successive seasons with different teams, after Inter had won both the domestic title and Italian Cup.

His second and final season at Inter saw Eto'o flourish. He scored a memorable Champions League hat-trick against Werder Bremen and signed off with a brace as they beat Palermo 3-1 in the Italian Cup final.

Eto'o ended his two-year spell at Inter having scored 53 goals in 102 appearances.

In August 2011, it was announced that Eto'o had signed for Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, and the striker began in style, much like at his two previous clubs, by scoring on his debut in a game against FC Rostov.

As has been the case throughout his career, Eto'o, who was handed the Anzhi captaincy, scored regularly during his time in Russia, with his last goal for the club coming in a 1-1 draw against Kryliya Sovetov in July.

On the international stage, Eto'o has been a regular in the Cameroon side for many years after making his international debut the day before he turned 15. At only 17 years old he was part of the national squad which travelled to France for the 1998 World Cup, where he was the youngest player in the tournament.

Four years later he scored the winning goal as Cameroon secured their only victory of the 2002 World Cup by beating Saudi Arabia.

Eto'o is the all-time leading goalscorer in the Africa Cup of Nations, and as well as tasting success at both the 2000 and 2002 tournaments, he was part of the Cameroon team which won gold at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

He also captained Cameroon at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and scored in matches against Denmark and the Netherlands, although his goals were unable to prevent them from suffering elimination at the group stage.

His most recent goals for the national side came in Cameroon's World Cup qualifying win over Togo back in March, when he netted a brace in a 2-1 win.

He is a four-time winner of the African Player of the Year Award.[/article]

mimat31.jpg

[article=http://www.football-italia.net/38936/official-matri-joins-milan]Juventus have sold Alessandro Matri to Milan for approximately €11m, as confirmed by Milan Channel.

The deal had been in the works for some time, but negotiations stepped up a gear after the Rossoneri qualified for the Champions League group phase last night.

This evening Milan Channel celebrated the move by flashing this message: ‘Matri. Welcome back Alessandro.’

That’s because Matri grew up in the Milan youth academy, but was loaned out to several sides before his sale to Cagliari in July 2007 for €2.3m.

It is believed the deal was done for €11m, slightly less than the €12m asking price. The 29-year-old will undergo a medical on Friday.

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani had confirmed last night that Coach Massimiliano Allegri requested a new centre-forward.

It is not clear when Giampaolo Pazzini will return from injury after his knee surgery in May.[/article]

Kevin-Prince Boateng - Schalke (€12 million)

[article=http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/news/20130830/kevin-prince-boateng-ac-milan.ap/?]Schalke has signed Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng from AC Milan.

The Italian side confirmed the deal on its website Friday, when Schalke presented the player at a news conference.

"I am very happy to be home in Germany, in the best league in the world,'' Boateng said.

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt said the club had signed the 26-year-old Boateng to a four-year deal.

"He is a player of extraordinary quality and a leading personality,'' Heldt said.

Heldt said it was easy to convince Boateng to switch to the Gelsenkirchen-based club - the difficulty was in convincing Milan to sell him.

Boateng scored twice as Milan qualified for the Champions League with a 3-0 win over PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday. Under UEFA rules, he remains eligible to play for Schalke in the competition proper.

"The deal for Boateng got put together lightning quick,'' Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said. "It started yesterday morning and it satisfies all sides.''

While he was a key player in Milan's midfield, Boateng had a rocky time in Italy. In January, he was subjected to racist chants during a friendly with lower-division club Pro Patria, and he responded by walking off the field followed by the rest of his teammates.

Boateng scored 10 goals in 74 league games for Milan since joining in 2010. He previously played for English clubs Tottenham and Portsmouth, as well as Borussia Dortmund and Hertha Berlin.

He represented Germany at youth level but opted to play for the country of father ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

"He has a lot of international experience and will greatly help our team,'' Schalke coach Jens Keller said.[/article]

Eren Derdiyok - Leverkusen (loan)

[article=http://www.bayer04.de/B04-ENG/en/_site_index.aspx]Striker Eren Derdiyok rejoins Bayer 04 Leverkusen on loan from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with immediate effect.

The Switzerland international returns to the Werkself on a season-long loan to 30 June 2014 after being transferred to Hoffenheim for the 2012/13 campaign. Derdiyok is set to rejoin TSG from 1 July 2014.

“In signing Eren Derdiyok we have been able to bring in an effective striker with European experience. Eren knows what to expect here in Leverkusen. He produced some great performances for us but didn’t always make the most of his huge potential. We’re giving him that chance now. We’re convinced he will make use of it when he gets his chance to play. Eren’sloan makes it possible to give Arkadiusz Milik a better opportunity to get much-needed match practice at Augsburg . I’m sure Arek will cause a stir when he returns to the club,” said Bayer 04 sporting director Rudi Völler.

Leverkusen’s the right club for me to get back on track. I always felt at home here, I know a lot of the players and we’re in the Champions League. That’s a great challenge. I’ll do all I can to help us be successful this season,” said Derdiyok, who scored 25 goals for the Werkself in 90 Bundesliga appearances between 2009 and 2012.

Nir Biton - Celtic (£700k)

BS7GJISCQAIgd1d.jpg

[article=http://www.celticfc.net/newsstory?item=4513]CELTIC are delighted to announce that Nir Biton has signed for the club on a four-year deal.

The talented Israeli internationalist has joined from FC Ashdod, which is also Efe Ambrose´s former club. The 21-year-old also joins up with fellow countryman, Beram Kayal at the home of the Scottish champions.

And he will be looking to play his part in Celtic´s UEFA Champions League group-stage campaign against Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax.

"I don’t think I needed something to convince me to come to a club the size of Celtic," he said. "It is a big club in Europe and has one of the best sets of fans in the world. This is my dream.

"I know the level of club Celtic are so I didn’t need to speak to anyone before coming here. I´m now at Celtic, one of the best clubs in Europe, and I will try to play my best for the fans and to improve myself. I hope it will be good."

The midfielder was at Celtic Park on Wednesday to witness his new club pull back a two-goal deficit and progress past Shakhter Karagandy into the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax.

And as he watched the stadium burst into celebration at James Forrest´s injury-time winner, he knew he had made the right decision.

"The fans were something I have never seen before," he said. "I think at Celtic Park everything is open and we can do the impossible.

"I was in the taxi on my way to do the medical test when the draw was made – it´s something you can not imagine in the world. It´s the first time that I am going to play against these kind of players, I have waited for a long time, but I am ready for it.

"I want to be the best and my dream is to play for Celtic and be a success for them. Playing in the Champions League is a dream for every player. The draw is very tough but in football everything is open. Last year I saw the game against Barcelona in my home and it was something impossible but Celtic won."

Biton faces stiff competition for a place in the starting XI, but while he knows he will have to adapt to the Scottish game quickly, he is also ready to prove why he deserves a regular place in the side.

"I am a defensive midfielder but I can play all of the roles in midfield so wherever the coach asks me to play there will be no problem," the 21-year-old explained.

"If I am good enough to play I will play but when somebody comes to a club like Celtic he should expect to prove himself. There are good players here so I expect competition but I believe in myself.

"I hope to be the best with the club, be the best with the team, the fans and my team-mates. When you come to a club like Celtic you expect to win the championship, the cups and go as far as we can in the Champions League, so that´s what I expect from my time here."[/article]

Teemu Pukki - Celtic (£3 million)

BS_33r_IYAALZ5D.jpg

[article]NEW Bhoy Teemu Pukki has spoken of his excitement at the prospect of playing in front of the Celtic support in Paradise.

The Finnish internationalist put pen to paper on a four-year deal this morning after joining from Bundesliga side Schalke 04.

He became the Hoops´ second signing in the space of 24 hours following the arrival of highly-rated Israeli midfielder Nir Biton on Friday.

"I am really excited about it and I am just waiting to meet the guys and get to play on the pitch", he told the official website in an exclusive interview.

"I can’t really wait to play in the stadium in front of the fans as I have heard so many good things about them. I am really looking forward to it and I hope it happens soon.

"I spoke to our national team coach Mixu Paatelainen and he was saying it will be a good club to go to.

"Celtic are a great, traditional club. There is an opportunity to play in the Champions League and I hope I can score a lot of goals but I know it´s not going to be easy to just go in the side and I will need to work hard to get into the team."

Along with his recent spell in Germany´s top flight, the 23-year-old has starred for Seville and HJK Helsinki, and he has already amassed over 20 caps for his country.

Pukki is now relishing the challenge of helping Celtic achieve success at home and in the Champions League, having taken in the Hoops´ dramatic play-off victory over Shakhter Karagandy on Wednesday night.

"I was at home and sitting watching it on the internet and I was quite nervous and in the end I was a fan of Celtic." said the striker.

"Last year I already played there with Shalke and now I hope I can help Celtic to go through. It´s not an easy group as all the teams are quite hard.

"It´s will be difficult but of course we have a chance and Celtic already have shown last year that they can beat teams like Barcelona so it will be a nice group.

"The players here always want to win and I think here we have a good chance of winning the championship and the cups but we will have to work hard for them."[/article]

“I talked to the manager and you can see how excited he is and I'm ready for the challenge. It's a big opportunity for the club and we know it's not going to be easy to stay in this league as there's a lot of good clubs but anything is possible, so we'll try our best.

I was in the same situation with Reading and it's never easy to move from the Championship to the Premier League as it's a big step but there's quality players here and we have a strong team to do something with here.”[/article]

[article=http://www.mcfc.com/News/Team-news/2013/September/Argentine-defender-signs-for-City]Martin Demichelis has joined City from Atletico Madrid.

The 32-year old defender has signed a two-year contract and will wear the No.26 shirt this season.

This will be the third occasion 37-times capped Argentina international has played under Manuel Pellegrini with the pair working together previously at both River Plate and Malaga.

"I am delighted to have joined City because I am still hungry for success and want to improve," said Demichelis.

"I have been in Europe for 11 years now and this was a great chance for me to play in the Premier League with such a big club.

"When there is a change, there is always a process. There’s always a period of adjustment you have to go through. Moving from South America to Europe is a big change and you need some time to settle in because everything is new.

"But in my case, I have lived in Europe for many years and I don’t think there’ll be any problems in adjusting to life here. Now I want to repay the manager's faith in me out on the pitch. I can't wait to get started."

Demichelis left Malaga in the summer and signed for Atletico Madrid, but the chance to play for City proved too great to resist for a player who has a wealth of Champions League experience, mostly gained during a stay with Bayern Munich where he made more than 200 appearances between 2003 and 2010.

During the course of this seven-year spell, Demichelis won four Bundesliga titles, four German cups and two German League cups.[/article]
