Juan Fernando Quintero - Porto (€5 million for 50% ownership)

Pescara playmaker Juan Fernando Quintero has admitted that he is ‘very happy’ to have signed for Porto.

The Colombia international had been heavily linked with a move away from the Delfini this summer, with the likes of Inter, Milan and Manchester United all registering an interest.

But the 20-year-old has conceded that he is delighted to have joined the Portuguese club.

“I am very happy to have joined Porto,” he told O Jogo.

“I will sign a four-year contract.”

PSV Eindhoven have boosted their ranks with the signings of defender Jeffrey Bruma and midfielder Stijn Schaars.

Bruma, 21, joins on a four-year deal from Chelsea, while 29-year-old Schaars moves on a three-year contract from Sporting Lisbon.

They join former AZ attacking midfielder Adam Maher at the Philips Stadion as PSV continue their rebuild following the departures of Dries Mertens, Jeremain Lens and Erik Pieters.

Bruma impressed in his last two seasons spent on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hamburg, and PSV will be hoping he can further his growing reputation in Eindhoven.

"(Bruma is) a defender that we would have wanted sooner," PSV technical director Marcel Brands told the club's official website.

"Unfortunately, it took a little longer than the had hoped for, but we are pleased that he is here."

Schaars, who played for Vitesse Arnhem and AZ earlier in his career, returns to the Netherlands after a two-year spell in Lisbon.

Sporting reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League during Schaars' time at the club, but he will undoubtedly be hoping to have greater success with PSV.

"It was a difficult operation with Sporting, but we can add a chunk of experience in the team with him," Brands added.

"From the first day we approached Stijn, he could not wait to start."
PSV have signed Stijn Schaars and right-back Arias from Sporting Lisbon for a combined fee of €1.6m
Selling at such a price, Sporting looks really skint.

Leroy Fer - Norwich City (undisclosed fee, reportedly £4.5 million)

o-LEROY-FER-570.jpg

CITY are delighted to confirm the signing of Dutch international midfielder Leroy Fer from FC Twente on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

Fer, 23, becomes Chris Hughton’s sixth summer signing, with Javier Garrido, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Nathan Redmond, Martin Olsson and Carlo Nash having already put pen to paper as the Canaries prepare for the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League campaign.

The 6ft 2in midfield powerhouse started his career at Feyenoord, where he scored 14 goals in 103 appearances before moving to FC Twente in 2011. He has made 71 appearances and scored 21 times for Twente.

On the international scene, Fer captained Holland at Under-17 level and went on to play at Under-19 level before progressing to the Under-21 side, where he had a successful impact in the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship Finals in Israel this summer.

He has made two full international appearances for his country.

City boss Chris Hughton commented: “We are really pleased to have acquired the signature of a player with the qualities that Leroy has.

“He’s a very versatile Dutch international and at 23 he has that pleasing balance of having acquired experience playing over 100 games in the Dutch League - but still having plenty of time ahead of him to continue his development as a player here with us at Norwich City.”

Nicolas Lopez - Udinese (€1 million)

Roma has clinched the signing of defender Mehdi Benatia from Udinese for 13.5 million euros.

The 26-year-old trained with his new teammates in Trigoria on Saturday prior to the deal's completion after being granted permission to do so by Udinese and joins on a five-year deal.

Benatia, a Morocco international, spent time at the National Institute of Football in Clairefontaine as a youngster and has also played for Olympique de Marseille and Clermont.

Roma's official website gushed praise on the new signing: "An imposing center back... Mehdi Benatia is a lot more than just muscle.

"His stature is certainly a great asset for the position he plays in - he rarely gets beaten in the air or in one-on-one situations - but he's also well equipped in the skill department.

"He's got a useful right foot on him and is known to hit the back of the net."

In a financial statement, the club also confirmed that Valerio Verre (2.5 million euros) and Nicolas Lopez (1 million euros) will go in the opposite direction and join Udinese.

Nicolas Lopez, who just won the adidas Silver Ball in the Fifa U20 World Cup looks like a steal at that price.

Tin Jedvaj - Roma (reportedly €5 million plus 20% sell on fee)

128441-Jedvajnews.jpg

Still not yet 18 years old (his birthday is November 28), but with experience well beyond his years. Tin Jedvaj is what the French would call an "enfant prodige". This talented youth seems almost predestined. One thing is certain though; young players this good are rarely seen on the field at the professional level. His résumé shows over a dozen games played with Dinamo Zagreb’s first team as well as a goal scored against Cibalia. Just to make things clear, Jedvaj was born in 1995. In Italy, most players his age are preparing for the 2013/14 season in the Primavera league, but obviously Jedvaj is not your average player. A central defender with a strong physical presence (6’2” tall), yet blessed with the ability to elegantly dispossess his opponents. In his home country he has garnered comparisons to Paolo Maldini; it’s a lot to live up to, but this youngster is certainly not one to shy away from the challenge.

Bruno Cortez - Benfica (loan with option to buy)

benfica-bruno-cortez-apresentacao-640x480-divulgacao.jpg

Benfica have confirmed the loan signing of Sao Paulo left-back Bruno Cortez in a deal that includes the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old earned rave reviews in 2011 for Botafogo before his performance in the Superclasico de las Americas against Argentina for a domestic-based Brazilian side saw him linked to a number of European clubs.

He instead elected to join Sao Paulo, who he helped to the Copa Sudamericana title last season, and is now delighted to have finally made the move to Europe.

"I’m very happy to be a very great club like Benfica," he told the official club website. "It’s a dream come true.

"I know we have to compete in lots of competitions and I will give everything to do well here."

The Brazilian, who made headlines off the pitch in 2011 too when he married his childhood sweetheart in a fast-food restaurant, is also targeting a return to international football.

"I want to return to the national team again, and with the help of my Benfica team-mates I can make it," he added.

Cortez is the latest of a number of summer reinforcements for the Europa League-runners up, who have already sealed deals for Lisandro Lopez, Steven Vitoria, Stefan Mitrovic, Lazar Markovic, Miralem Sulejmani and Filip Djuricic.

Benatia is one we definitely been in for at that price, I personally like him better than Papa.

Dries Mertens is hoping to ripple the net with continuity after he was unveiled as a new Napoli player on Monday.

The Belgium international has joined the Azzurri from PSV Eindhoven in a deal thought to be worth around €10m.

“I was ready to leave Holland and Serie A is a big step for me,” the 26-year-old stated. “I’m proud to be here.

“I hope to be important because I haven’t come here to sit on the bench. I’m a player who can score and assist, even if I know I’ll have to help out defensively too.

“Two seasons ago I scored 21 goals and collected 16 assists. Last season my score was 16 goals and 21 assists.

“The fans have already asked me to score against Juventus, evidently they don’t like them…”

Mertens is a wide attacker who has a preferred role. “I hope to play on the left as I’ve spent the last five years there, but I’m ready to change if necessary.

“I chose Napoli with my heart. And I’m not here just because Rafa Benitez wanted me, Napoli wanted me just as much.”

Rafinha_web.jpg

FC Barcelona and Celta have agreed to terms for the player Rafael Alcántara, who will join the Celestes for the 2013/14 season on loan

Rafael Alcántara, born on 12 March of 1993 in Sao Paulo (Brazil), will play under the managerial direction of Luis Enrique, Celta’s new manager. The midfielder, 20 years old, was one of Eusebio’s go-to men throughout the 2012/13 season, where he played a total of 36 matches in the league, 35 of which as a starter. He scored 10 goals for Barça B.

Rafinha joined FC Barcelona’s youth system at the age of 13. He made his first team debut on November 9 of 2011 against Hospitalet, in the away leg of the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey. In that season, 2011/12, he featured for the senior side three times. Last season he played one match for FC Barcelona, in the group stage of the Champions League against Benfica.

Rafinha extended his contract with FC Barcelona through 2016 on 4 July. Before the midfielder signed his new contract he showed his disposition to join another Primera team on loan in the hopes of enjoying more playing time in Spain's top flight. At Celta, Rafinha will join up with former team-mates Fontàs and Nolito.

Richard Dunne - QPR (free transfer)

HARRY Redknapp has strengthened his defensive options with the signing of experienced centre-half Richard Dunne.

The Republic of Ireland international has penned an initial one-year deal at Loftus Road following his release from Aston Villa at the end of last season.

Thirty-three year-old Dunne becomes Rangers’ second signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of fellow defender Danny Simpson.

Redknapp believes the former Manchester City skipper will be a valuable addition to his squad, telling www.qpr.co.uk: “This is a great signing for us. He’s a top-class defender and a great guy. He’s a good character and just what we need.

“He was City’s Player of the Year four years running, and he will be fantastic at this football club. He’s exactly the type I’m looking for.

“Obviously he had his problems last season with the injury but there’s an agreement in place that if he breaks down, the contract can be ended. He’s confident he’ll be okay and from our point of view, if he doesn’t have any problems with it then we’ve just signed a very, very good centre-half.”

Dunne, who has 77 Eire caps to his name, will link up with his new team-mates for the first time when the R’s squad travel to Austria for a pre-season tour on Tuesday lunchtime.

He said: “I’ve been very close to signing for Harry on a couple of occasions and the opportunity to work with him really appealed to me. Players want to play for Harry and I’m no different.

“I know the club didn’t have a good season last term, but – having spoken to Harry, as well as Tony (Fernandes) – there’s a real determination to bounce back into the Premier League, which is where we all want to be.

“I’ve played in the Championship and won it with Manchester City, so hopefully my experience will benefit the team over the course of the season.

“It’s a good challenge for me and one I’m very excited about.”

THE SADDLERS have completed the loan signing of Milan Lalkovic from Chelsea in a deal that will run initially until January 2014.

The Slovakian Under-21 International first arrived at Stamford Bridge as an under-14 player and has made impressive progress ever since.

A wide man with pace, he can play anywhere across the front three.

The 20 year-old has previously served Doncaster Rovers, Dutch outfit, ADO Den Haag and, most recently, top-flight Portuguese outfit, Vitoria Guimaraes on loan as he continues his education in the game.

“He is a player that I have tried to sign on loan a couple of times previously,” said Saddlers’ boss, Dean Smith. “I am delighted to finally be able to bring him here.

“He’s a goalscorer with tremendous pace who knows where to run and has been well schooled in the game.

“He’s highly-rated at Chelsea and will certainly bring a threat. He is a welcome addition to the squad.”

Daniel Pappoe - Colchester United (6 mth loan)

U's boss Joe Dunne has boosted his defensive options with the signature of Chelsea defender Daniel Pappoe.

The Ghanaian U20s international has played in the U's last two friendlies against Sudbury and Bishop's Stortford and the two clubs have now agreed loan paperwork to keep him at the Weston Homes Community Stadium until January 12th.

It continues the U's strong association with the Stamford Bridge club, following Sam Walker and Billy Clifford's loan spells in north Essex last season.

Daniel is a powerful centre half who, in his two U's appearances, has already shown his ease in bringing the ball out of central defence.

He played for the Chelsea reserves when still a schoolboy, and has been a regular in their youth sides since then, but will now be looking to take his first strides in the senior game in Colchester colours.

Daniel will take squad number 25 during his time at the club.

Sunderland have completed the signing of midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini from European giants Juventus.

The 28-year-old Italian international has signed a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

Giaccherini joins Paolo Di Canio’s Sunderland having enjoyed significant success during his time with Juventus.

He won the Italian Serie A title twice whilst with the club, first in 2011-12 and then again last season.

The attack-minded midfielder, who can play in the middle or out wide, has been capped 14 times for his country and featured twice at Euro 2012 as the Italians finished as runners-up.

He also featured for the Azzurri in the recent Confederations Cup tournament in Brazil.

Giaccherini began his career with Cesena and had loan spells with Forli, Bellaria Igea and Pavia.

He moved to Juventus in August 2011 and made 40 league appearances for the club, scoring four goals before making the move to Wearside.

The Tigers have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Steve Harper on a one-year deal.

Swansea City have signed promising left-back Jernade Meade on a free transfer, subject to international clearance and Premier League approval.

The 20-year-old, who spent nine years at Arsenal before leaving the club in the summer, has penned a one-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.

Luton-born Meade will train with Kristian O’Leary’s Under-21s set-up, with the hope of bolstering future options for the left-back position within Michael Laudrup’s first team plans.

He made his Arsenal debut in the Capital One Cup victory over Reading last October, after coming off the bench in extra-time during the 7-5 win.

Two months later, Meade earned his first start for the Gunners in a Champions League defeat at Olympiakos.

And Meade revealed he is delighted to have the opportunity of progressing his career with the Swans.

“I’ve been at Arsenal since I was 11, so to come to Swansea was the perfect move for me in terms of style,” he said. “Swansea are a growing club and they’ve come from League Two by passing their way out of the divisions.

“I think everyone has been very impressed by what they have achieved in the Premier League, and it’s great to be a part of the club.

“The people in the area are very welcoming, and I know it’s a family club too, which is great.

“My aim is to start impressing in the Under-21s team and hopefully give Michael Laudrup another option at left-back for the first team.

“He was a great player, and the chance to learn from him is a massive opportunity for me.

“And he is not afraid to give youngsters a chance to prove themselves either. You only have to look at what Ben Davies achieved last season to realise that.”
