Is this the news Sean had heard? Havent read the whole thread for confirmation but it certainly looks like it.
I assume it was the rumours doing the rounds and subsequently debunked that FSG had appointed a financial group to fin a buyer for LFC

Come on. In the bath noone see you. If you pee in the trashbin people see you.... You should come up with "Be Danish" or something similar 🙂
We've got like these big common baths in most Danish football clubs. People will now if you're peing where they are standing.

Apologies if this has already been posted. From the Official:

"Fenway Sports Group and Liverpool FC confirmed today that Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science, Dr Peter Brukner will leave the Club by the end of the season.

Managing Director Ian Ayre said: "We are grateful to Peter who has been the catalyst for the transformation of our Sports Medicine and Sports Science capability at the Club since he joined two years ago. He has been instrumental in re-defining our requirements and bringing first class people into the team, providing us with a great platform to move forward. We wish him all the best for the future."
First team Manager Kenny Dalglish added: "The framework Peter has established has allowed us to see some very real results in relation to our overall levels of fitness and a reduction in injury levels. Peter acted as the key advisor to the club in this regard, and we wish him well in the future."
Peter Brukner commented: "It has been an honour to work at Liverpool Football Club. I am very proud of what we have achieved over the past two years, as can be seen by the reduced injury rate and improved fitness levels. With a world class staff now in place, I feel I have accomplished what I was asked to do by LFC in 2010 and the Club is in good hands. I wish the Club every success in the future."

Maybe setting up a structure was his remit all along and the time is right to move on, with the announcement being done now because the owners are doing a review of the season anyway.

Well if he's been in the game or even at the club previously he will probably know the capabilites of the people being released. I just find it odd that the board would be releasing a goalkeeper coach and and a technical analysis guy when then don't have a clue about football.

Sorry why is a football manager with no third level education better qualified to decide if a Doctor is doing a good job than someone in FSG ?

Nonsense.

Technical analysis is perfectly within Henry and FSG's remit as well, and probably well outside Kenny's.

I agree that he should be consulted. But if we built up a hospital there will alwways be people who have a say to defend that they actually have a position. We dont need 15 doctors, we need a few physios and a doctor to assist them... it seems things have gone a bit out of hand in that department.

We need Chelsea's female doctor is what we need 🙂

The Anfield Wrap - We're also hearing that Natalie Wignall, the in-house lawyer, has also left the club.

Not the least bit surprising.

And for all those who were happy with the way we went about defending Suarez, this is all you need to know about what FSG thought about it.

The departure of Liverpool's Head of Sports Medicine/Science Peter Brukner today has been met with shock by some at Anfield. Brought in by Purslow after Benitez demanded a better medical dept, he was credited with the club now having best fitness stats in PL.Described by 1 senior source as one of LFC's "few employees of truly global standing-but never fitted in more 'traditional' Dalglish regime"

When he had Alonso he rather wanted Barry. When he had Arbeloa he rather wanted Dossena. When he had Skagger he rather wanted King. When he had Baros and Cisse he rathr wanted Crouch and Morientes. When he had Crouch and Morientes he rather wanted Torres. Rafa was obsessed with the ones he didn't have.... It was like fucking crazy.....

he was a "Serial transactionist"

If true, again this suggests their backing Kenny & taking this action based at least in part on his recommendations.

Comolli's sacking is paving the way for Kenny to possibly take over that role while the club appoints another manager. With Kenny's track record last season, I don't want him to be the one identifying and signing players. That responsibility should go to someone with a proven track record.

The public backing and subsequent sacking of staff suggest that Kenny is well entrenched. So does this mean that Kenny has submitted a full report and these actions are a direct result thereof?

I was an advocate for Kenny's appointment but it hasn't exactly worked out. He'll probably step down at the end of the season or see out the second year of his contract. However, Kenny is honest enough to put his hand up and say that we haven't been good enough. He will always put the club first and if that means stepping down, he'll do it without hesitation.

It's also incorrect since Benitez fell out with Purslow for getting rid of his medical team.

I share your concerns. I even remarked the other day that 'the Aussie doctor' seemed to be doing a good job, although that was based purely on attributing the improvements in Agger to the doc's regime, of which I have absolutely no proof. The statement on the Official, which I posted earlier in this thread, talks of the structure being in place so perhaps the owners feel confident they can continue with the same work, just without Dr Brukner himself.

Brukner in his leaving statement makes reference to the job he was hired to do in 2010, which does suggest (as others have said) that it was always intended he would lay the foundations here and then go, presumably back home to Oz.

Apperantly Wignall hasnt been sacked (yet anyway)

What Brukner has set up wont go awayjust because he does, but its a bit of a strange move imho.
