Comolli Sacked!

Neil you advocate playing the same way throughout the club. We don't do that. Borrell does... The others... Less so I'm led to believe

That comment about the wage bill is terrifying. Surely it can't be true. How can it be?
I cannot comprehend how. I wouldn't mind if we had bought quality and paid way too much on wages... But THIS??!

Fuck me that can't be right???

Probably true seeing that Cole's at £100,000-a-week and Henderson at £65,000-a-week contract.

Key words is salary structure. Remember this?

Andy Carroll will pick up a staggering £150,000 loyalty bonus from Liverpool next month despite making only 13 starts since his £35million move from Newcastle.

Carroll negotiated the windfall, which will be paid in each year of his contract at Anfield, when he signed last January.

The 22-year-old striker, who has scored only four times for his new club, has a deal worth £60,000 a week basic but he is also paid an additional £10,000 for his image rights and a further £5,000 for each appearance

He is also entitled to a salary increase if he plays in more than 60 per cent of Liverpool's matches this season.

Torres will have been on HUGE cash mind you, Cole too and a proportion of his wages will be paid elsewhere, Aquilani also... Jovanovic was a big earner gone etc... I doubt we are anywhere near the wage bill of city. In fact although i can no longer find the article i did read a pretty in depth one in the broadsheets tpwards the start of the season which outlined how we had slashed the wage bill..... im not sure which one to believe but all i will say is it wasn't in the fucking daily mirror.

Think this is a new man highlighting the staff he doesnt want. No way would a board be making these types of decsions without input from someone who has knowledge of the game

I always find it baffling that we treble players wages. Why? Are they going to turn their nose down at double?

Despite the ridiculous sums Carroll and co. are on it still seems a little far fetched to suggest we're paying out the same sort of wages as City.

Defo saved up from those failed signings' exits but there were quite a lot of ins too.

José Enrique is close to becoming Liverpool's fifth summer signing after Newcastle United accepted a £6m offer for their disillusioned Spanish defender.

Kenny Dalglish has scoured the market for a solution to his problematic left-back position since his return as manager in January and finally settled on José Enrique after the 25-year-old dropped his £120,000-a-week wage demands.

Seeing Henderson's on 65k, the likes of Downing, Adam, Enrique and Bellamy wouldn't be earning much less. Then there's the contract extensions of the likes of Lucas and Flanagan. Wage bill near City might be a little exaggerating but wage structure wise, we do seem extravagant, example when compared against the likes of Arsenal or even Spurs.

And how would an outsider know which people he didn't want.........

yep, I'm thinking this as well. in fact I think the only reason kenny was sacked today is because we have a cup semi final at the weekend.

Well if he's been in the game or even at the club previously he will probably know the capabilites of the people being released. I just find it odd that the board would be releasing a goalkeeper coach and and a technical analysis guy when then don't have a clue about football.

i don't know if it's true or not but i've always doubted that line that we managed to reduce our wage bill last summer, despite bringing in 6 new players and - just as an example - still paying £30k a week of Poulsen's wages.

did people think we were paying the new signings in magic beans or something?

Why make these changes now he knew the club inside out surely he would of knew if these guys where good enough when he was first appointed.

I doubt knowing what's going on,seeing people work & then working with people are one & the same thing. I know it isn't in an office so why would it be in a football club?

True but didn't kenny work up at the academy with achtebrg. It's just all odd.... Its quite bizzare to be honest.
